Del Rey has given us a first glimpse at the artwork in Jason Fry’s The Essential Guide to Warfare. You can check out the images they posted on their Star Wars Books Facebook page. I really love the image of the Rakatan fighting the Killiks.

The Early Bantam Era: Drew Struzan

Continuing the Star Wars Cover Art series, we last left off with Timothy Zahn’s Thrawn trilogy. The Thrawn Trilogy kicked off a long series of books for Bantam publishing. Setting aside the young reader series The Jedi Prince, we have the first few novels of the early Bantam period. The year 1994 ushered in six Star Wars books, three new authors, and two new cover artists: Drew Struzan and John Alvin. John knocked out all three covers for the Jedi Academy Trilogy, which I’ll tackle in my next installment. For now, let’s take a look at Struzan’s work. Next HSS book Perfectly Dead by Michael A. Stackpole
November 14, 2011 at 10:05 am | Posted in Books | Leave a commentTags: homeland security services, michael a. stackpole, perfectly dead
Michael A. Stackpole announced on his site that his next eBook in the Homeland Security Services series will be named Perfectly Dead. Perfectly Dead follows on the heals of Perfectly Invisible, and Mike promises some action filled fun with Miracle Dunn and Fyn…
Miracle Dunn remains the central character, but this story will take her a bit further afield than Perfectly Invisible. I mean that in two ways. First, the story is moved out to Phoenix. I’ve made it an “away game” for a couple of reasons, primary among them my desire to emphasize that HSS teams have a huge jurisdiction. They can operate anywhere and often do. Second, the story will move Miracle and Fyn past the realm of police procedurals. Sure, there will be plenty of CSI type stuff, clues to be found and figured out; but dealing with the aftermath of what they discover will take them in an entirely different direction than before. In Perfectly Invisible we got to see that Miracle and Fyn can kick ass—now we’ll get an inkling of just how much ass they can kick.
On top of that, we’ll also see a crossover character, Merlin Bloodstone, from Michael Stackpole’s stories The Cards Call Themselves, Brewed Fortune, and the upcoming Mysterious Ways. You can check out all the details here on Mike’s site, as well as his thoughts on doing crossovers with other authors.
