Movie Review: The Hitcher

Today is Halloween and one of the best things about this holiday, other than the candy, is all the horror movies on TV. In order to get into the spirit of things, I decided to review one of my favorite horror films of all time, The Hitcher. Now when I say The Hitcher, I’m not talking about the awful remake. There is, and can only be one, original: the 1986 film directed by Robert Harmon and written by Eric Red. It was a film that changed an entire country, much like Jaws did in 1975. After The Hitcher came out, no one ever looked at a hitchhiker the same way again. Continue Reading Movie Review: The Hitcher

On October 7th, Charmed Life Gallery hosted the Death Star Art Show which showcased various artwork that mashed together horror and Star Wars. Some of the works are pretty cool looking. What better way to get into the mood of Halloween than checking out some interesting Star Wars horror art. Here are some of my favorite pieces.

SWTOR has posted a new excerpt from Drew Karpyshyn’s Revan on their Facebook page.

When he played the holorecording he’d made of the red- skinned man who’d taken Revan off the ship, Bastila gasped.

“I guess the Sith aren’t as extinct as the Jedi thought,” Meetra said.

“The Order is wrong again,” Bastila muttered. “Big surprise.”

You can see the excerpt here.

“The Marlboro Man” by Paul S. Kemp

Author Paul S. Kemp wrote a collection of short stories available as an eBook collection called Ephemera. The stories range from Lovecraftian to D&D fantasy. One of them is almost beyond genre classification: “The Marlboro Man.” It’s sort of a mix between fantasy and mystery and it stars an angel. But this is not your typical angel. Today Paul posted the entire story on his website, so if you’re looking for a good read, be sure to check it out. You can read it here.

If you’re interested in buying Ephemera, it’s a pretty good deal. Amazon and Barnes & Noble both have it for just $2.99. The collection includes seven short stories that each have a pretty good length and completeness to them. The first few stories were my favorites and were well worth the price.
