Darth Maul Lives!

Ever since the Witches of Dathomir episodes last season on The Clone Wars, fans have been wondering whether that hazy image reminiscent of Darth Maul was indeed the real deal. Well according to Entertainment Weekly, it is.
“I found it funny in The Phantom Menace when Darth Maul got cut in half, I thought George was definitively saying to the fans, ‘There’s no way this character is coming back. This is not a Boba Fett/Sarlacc Pit situation where, because of fan love, Boba gets out of that thing any number of ways.’ Fast-forward ten-years, and I’m the one to bring Maul back.” -Dave Filoni
They even have a very short video that shows some new animation of Darth Maul (jump to 00:26). According to the article, George was behind the resurrection of Maul and Dave has been left with the challenge of how to explain Maul’s survival and what impact it will have on the other characters. As for the how, Dave hints that it could be related to the unnatural abilities of the dark side. Regardless, this is big news and is sure to stir up the fanbase. UPDATE: USA Today also has an article out there for Maul’s return, including a new image of the animated model. Check it out.

Book News: The Complete Vader Pre-sale
October 12, 2011 at 7:13 am | Posted in Books, Star Wars News | Leave a commentTags: pete vilmur, ryder windham, the complete vader
Having already read Star Wars: The Complete Vader, I can honestly say this is a really fun book to read with gorgeous photos and intriguing facts. Being a very visual person, I thoroughly enjoyed the behind-the-scenes photos of the actors, the Vader artwork, and the off-the-wall pictures of Vader merchandise. The book is big, too. It’s over 4lbs of Vader goodness. Best of all, Barnes & Noble has a nice little promotion page going with a 5 page preview, an exclusive interview with authors Ryder Windham and Pete Vilmur, and even a video preview that flips through the book showing off the format and some of the excellent artwork and pictures.
Right now you can pre-order the book for just $33.00 on Barnes & Noble (Amazon is now #33.00 as well). B&N seems to have the best deal going on right now with 45% off the list price, so take advantage of the sale while it lasts. Star Wars: The Complete Vader comes out October 18th.
