Here is this week’s podcasts in review.
All Wings Report In: Episode IX covers a little bit of Star Wars news and lots of updates for the Rebel Legion. For their discussion segment, they have a nice talk with Bob Barker (not the Price as Right Bob Barker) about the Keep Dark Horse Making Star Wars Comics movement. With good audio quality and production value, this is certainly a good podcast to listen to for keeping up to date with the Legion.
Assembly of Geeks: Episode 9/10/2013 covers a lot of ground in a fun format. With hosts Scott Murray (Merchman), Tricia Barr (Fangirl), and Jeff McGee (Admiral 80s), they cover geek news while a doing a little roleplay and presenting the podcast as if from a superhero headquarters complete with robot sidekick GANNIN. In this episode, they talk with Jeremiah from Bombad Radio about the latest Star Wars news, Justin Cavender about Marvel news, and they have an interview with Kenobi author John Jackson Miller. Plus they talk summer movies (warning, there are Star Trek Into Darkness spoilers) and Ben Affleck as Batman. Some nice discussion and worth checking out.
Bombad Radio: Episode 91 continues their coverage of Salt Lake Comic Con with audio from The Next Future Distruption in Video Games panel featuring John and Brenda Romero who talk about the current state of gaming and where it might be heading next. In this episode they also have an interview with David Collins who has worked on a lot of stuff, including Star Wars.
Episode 92 has more interviews and audio from the press conference. Interviews include Lou Ferrigno (The Hulk), Noah Hathaway (Atreyu-Neverending Story), Richard Hatch (Battlestar Galactica), Walter Jones (Black Power Ranger) and David Yost (Blue Power Ranger), Tommy Tallarico (Video Games Live), Utah Lego Club, Heroic Inc., Dinosaurs Assoc., Eight Minute Empire, Eric Cone, and Stan Lee’s panel, but if you want just the Stan Lee panel, you can check out their Star Lee Panel Special Episode.
Coffee with Kenobi: Coffee Chat with The Cantina Cast has a nice interview and discussion with the hosts of The Cantina Cast Podcast as they talk Star Wars. They dive into some fun aspects of fandom and provide lots of insight on the hosts.
RebelForce Radio: Episode 9.20.2013 has special guest Steve Sansweet who talks about getting into the Guinness Book of World Records. They also talk Lawrence Noble, My Family Recipe Rocks, and the sequel movies. Later in the show they bring in artist Lawrence Noble for a nice interview.
Episode 9.22.2013 is a special birthday bash for Star Wars: The Clone Wars voice actress and Her Universe founder Ashley Eckstein. This episode was pretty funny. I laughed pretty good when Ashley made Jimmy and Jason honorary fangirls. As always, this is the podcast you’re looking for if Star Wars is your fandom. For the birthday bash, they brought in special guests, shared Ashley trivia, and generally just had a good time.
Star Wars Bookworms: Episode 12 includes special guest Mark Hurliman from Star Wars Beyond the Films as Mark, Teresa and Aaron discuss the Purge comics and Agent of the Empire: Hard Targets. Lots of spoilers if you haven’t read the comics, but great discussion of the stories and the art.
Stolendroids: Salt Lake Comic Con 2013 episode has some interviews including Star Wars author Kevin J. Anderson as well as Larry Correia, Ben Hansen, Howard Tayler and Dan Schaefer. The first couple interviews are kind of interesting. While KJA’s was brief, I rather enjoyed the interview with Howard Tayler who talked about his long running webcomic Schlock Mercenary. He had some good points on storytelling.
