Comic Book Resources posted an interview with Tim Siedell who talks about his new upcoming series with Dark Horse Comics, Darth Vader and the Cry of Shadows. They also have a look at the cover for #2 and one of the interior panels for #1.
Tim, tell us a bit about the central concept behind “Darth Vader and the Cry of Shadows.” Where does it pick up with Vader and how does it relate to your recently-concluded series “Darth Vader and the Ninth Assassin?”
Tim Siedell: The two stories aren’t related, but in a way they are connected. The evolution of young Vader continues.
In “Ninth Assassin,” Vader was freed up to be a badass. That’s the word that kept coming back to me from readers: “badass.” And because he was surrounded by a motley assortment of characters with their own moral deficiencies, there was some satisfaction in that. “Cry of Shadows” starts out that way, as well. Our main character, a disillusioned clone trooper who has a bone to pick with the Jedi, practically worships Vader’s abilities as a warrior. But where does badass end and evil begin? Let’s put it this way, Vader doesn’t become the most feared man in the galaxy by just being a badass.

Ewok of the Day: Kaink

Here at Roqoo Depot, we are counting down the days to the release of Ewoks: Shadows of Endor. Written and drawn by Zack Giallongo with colors by Braden Lamb, this trade paperback comic leads directly in the events of Return of the Jedi and ties into the Ewoks television movies and series. To help get readers in the mood, we’ll be doing an Ewok of the day each day until the comic’s release. Today we’re highlighting Kaink.
Kaink is an Ewok priestess and a guardian of the Soul Trees (sacred trees planeted at the time of an Ewok’s birth). She is also the legend-keeper for Bright Tree Village. She preferred to be by herself and lived in solitude several miles away from the village where she could be at one with nature. Her magical staff is adorned with a crystal that can emit a beam of mystical force or hypnotize animals.
Kaink first appeared in Caravan of Courage: An Ewok Adventure (1984) and in two episodes of the Ewoks television show. She was also a part of the safety video for Star Tours.
Ewoks: Shadows of Endor will be out on October 9, 2013.
