EUC Interview with Jennifer Heddle
May 22, 2012 at 10:30 am | Posted in Interview, Star Wars Books, Star Wars News | Leave a commentTags: annihilation, jennifer heddle, matthew stover, x-wing series
EUCantina posted a really nice interview today with LucasBooks Senior Editor Jennifer Heddle. The interview covers her role with LucasBooks, the possibility of another X-Wing book, as well as some tantalizing teases about Matthew Stover returning and an update for the future of the EU at San Diego Comic Con. She also mentioned some more details on The Old Republic: Annihilation.
EUC: Can you give us any additional details about Paul S. Kemp’s untitled duology or Drew Karpyshyn’s The Old Republic: Annihilation?
JH: I can’t say too much about Paul Kemp’s books yet, aside from the fact that they’re in development, and it’s a concept we’re all really excited about. As for Annihilation, it’s a book that will have a lot of appeal for fans of the Old Republic game and/or comics, in that Theron Shan is the star and his mother Satele Shan plays a crucial role, but it’s also a strong action-adventure that will be entertaining even if you’ve never heard of the game. There’s also a great villain in the form of Darth Karrid, a former Jedi who commands the Sith’s ultimate warship through a cybernetic hookup. She doesn’t just command the ship, she is the ship. And Theron is determined to take her down.

The Star Wars Cover Art series is back! Next up, the X-Wing series by Michael A. Stackpole, Aaron Allston, and with cover art by Paul Youll and Mike Bryan.
The X-Wing series was the largest Star Wars book series in the Bantam era that wasn’t geared toward young adults. It consisted of the Roque Squadron books, the Wraith Squadron books, and then two stand alone novels: Isard’s Revenge and Starfighters of Adumar.
And it all began in 1996… Continue Reading Star Wars Cover Art: The X-Wing Series…

X-wing Update: Still in Print
April 11, 2011 at 12:24 pm | Posted in Books, Miscellaneous, Star Wars News | Leave a commentTags: michael a. stackpole, x-wing series
After reports last week that the X-wing series was now out of print, Random House was quick to inform author Michael Stackpole that was not the case. RH considers the X-wing series a crucial part of the line, and not only are they still in print, they sell at a rate of 30-40 per week which is impressive for a series that’s been around so long. Random House asked Stackpole to assure the fans that his books are available, and you can read his informative post on his blog, Stormwolf.

On April 6, 2011, Sue Rostoni, Executive Editor at Lucas Licensing, commented on Michael Stackpole’s Facebook page:
Aaron [Allston] is coming out with another [X-Wing: Wraith Squadron novel] in a couple years — maybe we can get RH (Del Rey/ Lucas Books is an imprint of Random House Publishing) to repackage/reprint the whole group……hummm…..
If you have any questions for Sue, submit them here on the blog, tweet them to us or go to our Facebook page. We’ll be submitting questions to fansite EU Cantina for their bi-annual Sue Rostoni interview.

Bantam Drops X-wing Series From Reprint
April 6, 2011 at 9:58 am | Posted in Books, Star Wars News | 1 CommentTags: bantam, michael a. stackpole, x-wing series
Roqoo Depot has learned (via Twitter) that Bantam Books has dropped the X-wing series from reprint. No word on why that decision was made.
Michael Stackpole’s X-wing series is frequently cited by fans as one of their favorites. Many fans have expressed that they came to love the EU via Stackpole’s books, and readers new to the EU are urged by older fans to read the series. It’s virtually the only series that showcases the contribution “regular” beings made to the Rebellion/New Republic. The focus in most books of the Bantam era being on the Big Three or Luke and his New Jedi Order. Although post-ROTJ Star Wars wouldn’t be Star Wars without Luke Skywalker, numbers alone dictate that many “regular” beings played an important part in the downfall of the Empire and the rise of the New Republic. The X-wing series paid tribute to their contribution. Sad to think that future Star Wars fans may not get the opportunity to read these books.
