urlFox’s X-Men once again took the world by storm this past weekend, with big box office numbers and glowing reviews. The ‘inbetweequal’ as it is called, X-Men: Days of Future Past, is once again directed by franchise starter Bryan Singer, who utilizes both generations of X-Men casts. With Hugh Jackman returning as Wolverine for the seventh time, other stars Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Halle Berry,  Peter Dinklage, and Jennifer Lawrence round out the principal cast. the-wolverine-teaser-posterOkay, let me start off very blunt- The Wolverine was awesome. Directed by James Mangold and starring Hugh Jackman in his sixth appearance as the titular character in the X-Men film series, this film almost all but wipes out the bad taste in audience’s mouths left from 2009’s X-Men: Origins- Wolverine film. This film has a surprising amount of depth, and Mangold’s direction and Jackman’s performance blend effortlessly together. While the film is definitely a stand-alone to the X-Men universe and little to no other mutants besides Wolverine are present, it brings in a cast of relatively unknown actors playing such great characters that you are still constantly engaged. That, and the wonderful character development that goes on with Jackman’s Wolverine.

As it’s July 25th release date nears, 20th Century Fox has begun promotion for the latest X-Men film, The Wolverine. The film is a stand alone featuring Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine as he journeys to Japan following the events of X-Men: The Last Stand, released in 2006. Today, a new international trailer for the film has been released, and it gives more details on the actual plot of the movie, as well as fleshing out some of the new characters introduced, specifically Viper. It’s also the first trailer to not feature the cameo of Famke Janssen’s Jean Grey, much to my dismay.

Though I’m significantly more excited for 2014’s X-Men: Days of Future Past, I hope to see you all at the theaters to see The Wolverine!
