- Star Wars artist Grant Gould will be illustrating How to Draw Star Wars Rebels. No word on a release date yet.
Comic News
- Randy Stradley gave an update on Star Wars trade paperback and omnibus collections over on the Dark Horse forums.
The second Dark Times Omnibus is indeed our final scheduled Omnibus. We will produce trades for all of the current series, but there is not enough time within our remaining license to publish Omnibuses. Dark Horse’s goal, obviously, must be to sell as much of our inventory before our final cut-off date.
There may — and I stress may be one more hardcover book before the end of the year. News about that when I have it.

Art News
As reported by Jedi News, there will be a limited number of screening for Drew: The Man Behind the Poster, a documentary on artist Drew Struzan. Screenings are currently limited to San Diego, CA (July 19-25), New York, NY (Aug 16-22) and Albuquerque, NM (July 28). You can purchase tickets here.
Book News
John Jackson Miller‘s sci-fi serialization Overdraft: The Orion Offensive will come to an end next Tuesday, and so will the $1.99 entry price for the series. On Tuesday the price will jump up for the completed book. But for those looking to get a physical book rather than an eBook, the print edition is available for pre-order now and will be a whopping 400 plus pages (here’s the pre-order link for UK residents).
Martha Wells‘ book The Death of the Necromancer is now available for free entirely online at Black Gate Magazine. It’s a good book and worth checking out. Martha has a little bit of trivia on the book here, along with links if you’d like to purchase the eBook version or other stories in the series.
R.A. Salvatore fans can pickup a signed copy of The Companions and The Last Threshold via the e-signings page on his website. Bob will be in Columbus, OH on August 14 at the Thurber House for a book signing if you’d like to meet him in person.

Heroes Convention 2013 kicks off today in Charlotte, NC and runs June 7 through 9th. To kick things off, how about some reassuring news regarding Dark Horse Comics and Star Wars. According to Bleeding Cool, Star Wars will be with Dark Horse Comics for the entirety of 2014.
They will continue to make Darth Vader miniseries, Star Wars Legacy will remain an ongoing book and will alternate between artists every six issues and the mini-series based on George Lucas’ original drafts, The Star Wars, will have a radically different logo to differentiate it.

Course of the Force details have been released for this year’s lightsaber relay along the California coast. Registration is also open if you plan on participating. The relay will start at Skywalker Ranch and end at San Diego Comic Con.
Star Wars Book Worms has a new episode out interviewing video game and comic writer Alexander Freed. Also in interview news, SciFiNow spoke with actor Ian McDiarmid discussing the possibility of more Palpatine.

Star Wars #1 is off to a good start. The first two printings sold out, and collectors have no shortage of variant covers to chose from. But with all the flurry of news, just how many covers are there? Well, the answer is six (so far). We decided to put together a gallery of the covers and cover art to give everyone a visual reference on what’s out there, and what’s to come.

Kicking off with a little book news, upcoming Star Wars author Martha Wells revealed that she has almost finished work on her Leia novel which will be part of the Rebels series.
I’ve managed to stick to my writing goal, which is really good, as the Star Wars book is due by January 31. I should hopefully be done with the first draft in the next ten days or so, then be able to get a bunch of revision done before I send it in.
