Crashland by Sean Williams is out today in hardcover, eBook and audiobook. This is the second book in the Twinmaker series.
Clair and Jesse have barely been reunited when the world is plunged into its biggest crisis since the Water Wars. The d-mat network is broken. The world has ground to a halt. People are trapped, injured, dying. It’s the end of the world as Clair knows it—and it’s partly her fault. Now she’s been enlisted to track down her friend Q, the rogue AI who repeatedly saved her life—and who is the key to fixing the system. Targeted by dupes, abandoned by her friends, and caught in a web of lies that strike at the very essence of who she is, Clair quickly finds powerful and dangerous allies. But if she helps them, will she be leading her friend straight into a trap? Caught between pro- and anti-d-mat philosophies, in a world on the brink of all-out war, Clair must decide where she stands—and who she stands with, at the end.

Starting off, Kathleen Kennedy told ABC News Radio that we can expect some news on Episode VII next month. “I have no immediate update, but hopefully in January I’ll have something that I can say.” Pre-production for the film is also set for Spring of next year.
In lit news, author Sean Williams has a new story out in the December issue of Cosmos Magazine entitled “The Missing Metatarsul.”
“It’s a mystery set in the future brought to the attention of two new recurring characters, PK Sargent and “Inspector” Forest, both of whom are unique in their own ways. It’s set in the same universe as Twinmaker, my first YA SF novel due November 2013.” –Sean Williams
In other news, Agent of the Empire cover artist Stephane Roux went on a rampage in Paris. According to officials he declared, “I am the French Wookiee! Hear me roar!” Shortly afterwards, this picture was taken.

Topping off the headlines this week is Star Wars artist Brian Rood who appeared on his local news station WTOL11. You can watch the clip here. The three minute clip shows off some of Brian’s artwork, as well as a rare behind the scenes look at how he does it. We’re fairly certain the secret to his success is combination of water colors and Ewok’s blood. Yub yub.
Not to be out done, forthcoming Star Wars author Kevin Hearne will be livestreaming a book signing this Sunday at The Poisoned Pen in Scottsdale, Arizona. Kevin will be signing his new book Trapped as well as participating in a Q&A. Fans will have an opportunity to ask their own questions via the livestream, or if you’re in the area, you can ask him in person.
In book news, you can enter for a chance to win a complete, autographed set of Kevin Hearne’s Iron Druid Chronicles via Patrick Rothfuss’ Worldbuilders charity. For each $10 donation, you get one entry and all the money goes to a good cause. Other authors involved in the charity include Star Wars author Sean Williams who has donated signed copies of Fatal Alliance, The Force Unleashed II, Metal Fatigue, and The Resurrected Man. However, if you’ve got deep pockets, you can check out the Worldbuilder’s eBay auction for Kevin Hearne’s autographed set (which includes special illustrations by the author) and Sean William’s auction.
The second omnibus of Daniel Abraham‘s Long Price Quartet came out this week. Dan has the full breakdown on his blog with links to both the first and second omnibus. Keep in mind that Daniel Abraham will be one of the writers in the upcoming Rebels series. He and fellow author Ty Franck will be writing the Han Solo novel under the pen name James S.A. Corey. As we understand it, the S.A. stands for Solo’s Awesome.
Meanwhile sci-fi author Kevin J. Anderson has climbed 54 mountains and 400 miles of wilderness trails in his search for Yoda. Unfortunately he was unsuccessful, but he was able to recoup the loss with a trail calendar. While there are no Yoda sightings in the calendar, we’re sure the search for Yoda will continue.
