The Awesome ‘Children of Fire’ UK Cover

Star Wars author Drew Karpyshyn is stepping away from science fiction for a bit in order to dive into an original fantasy series of his own making called The Chaos Born. The first book in the series is Children of Fire which will be out August 27 in the US and September 5 in the UK. Now we’ve already gotten a look at the US cover, but now the UK cover has been revealed…and it’s gorgeous!
Having already read an arc for Children of Fire, I can tell you this is an awesome book with some really intriguing characters, a fun spin on magic, and a captivating story. Art News
As reported by Jedi News, there will be a limited number of screening for Drew: The Man Behind the Poster, a documentary on artist Drew Struzan. Screenings are currently limited to San Diego, CA (July 19-25), New York, NY (Aug 16-22) and Albuquerque, NM (July 28). You can purchase tickets here.
Book News
John Jackson Miller‘s sci-fi serialization Overdraft: The Orion Offensive will come to an end next Tuesday, and so will the $1.99 entry price for the series. On Tuesday the price will jump up for the completed book. But for those looking to get a physical book rather than an eBook, the print edition is available for pre-order now and will be a whopping 400 plus pages (here’s the pre-order link for UK residents).
Martha Wells‘ book The Death of the Necromancer is now available for free entirely online at Black Gate Magazine. It’s a good book and worth checking out. Martha has a little bit of trivia on the book here, along with links if you’d like to purchase the eBook version or other stories in the series.
R.A. Salvatore fans can pickup a signed copy of The Companions and The Last Threshold via the e-signings page on his website. Bob will be in Columbus, OH on August 14 at the Thurber House for a book signing if you’d like to meet him in person.

Let’s start with a little convention and event news. First up, author Kevin Hearne announced he will be heading to Madison, WI for Odyssey Con in April.
Fellow Rebels author Martha Wells posted her schedule for ConDFW which is in Dallas, TX this weekend.
Meanwhile author Daniel Abraham (aka James S.A. Corey) will be hanging out in Albuquerque, NM on Saturday with author Steve Gould at Alamosa Books.
The Clone Wars voice actor Ashley Eckstein will be in Los Angeles, CA this weekend for The 24 Hours of Gallifrey One (50th Anniversary of Doctor Who).
Sam Witwer (TCW Darth Maul) and James Marsters (TCW Capt. Faro Argyus) will also be in LA this weekend but for The Star Trek & Sci-Fi Summit.
Boba Fett actor Jeremy Bulloch will be in Telford, England tomorrow for the Midlands Comic Con & MCM Expo.
And wrapping up con news, San Diego Comic Con badges go on sale tomorrow.
Elsewhere in the news, Darth Vader and Son author Jeffrey Brown will be getting a third book called Star Wars: Jedi Academy which is set to come out in September this year. Amazon and Barnes & Noble have a pre-order page if you’re interested.
Stan Lee graced Youtube with a video of “How It Should Have Ended” for Star Wars. (thanks to Jedi News for spotting this gem)
Lastly, TheForce.Net’s The ForceCast has re-launched with new hosts and their first episode is out. The new podcast is headed by Erik Blythe and Eric Geller.
