Along with Kevin at MidAmeriCon II was his wife and fellow author Rebecca Moesta. I couldn’t resist taking the chance to interview Rebecca as she’s worked on some very interesting series in the Star Wars literary universe. We spoke with her about her work on The Young Jedi Knights and Junior Jedi Knights series, what those projects were like and how the collaborative process worked, and her first story in the Star Wars realm, “Trade Wins: The Ranat’s Tale.” We also touched on her Star Trek novel, her original series Crystal Doors and an upcoming nonfiction book she’s working on that deals with the many layers of writing.

Here is this week’s Podcasts in Review with quite a few Star Wars authors for your listening enjoyment.

Bombad Radio: Episode 207 features an interview with Shannon Eric Denton as they talk comics, Airwolf and Star Wars. Eric has a pretty interesting story as he moved from being a comic artist, to an artist for animated shows, to being a writer. He’s a good guest and it’s a fun conversation. Worth checking out.

Coffee With Kenobi: Episode 43 is their pre-Force Friday show with some discussion on their collecting trips for Disney Infinity 3.0 figures. Their guests for this episode are Mike and Joao from The Cantina Cast as they dive into some meaty topics like Yoda, Obi-Wan, the chosen one prophecy and more. It’s an interesting discussion episode and good for any general Star Wars fan.

Fly Casual: Episode 55 is a news and rumors episode as they cover Star Wars #8, Kanan #5 and Lando #3. Then they head into Rogue One rumors, Kylo Ren rumors, a discussion on the length of the movie and whether one of the big 3 will die and which one. Overall, good show with the usual mix of humor, Star Wars geekdom and unpredictability. Continue Reading Podcasts in Review…

Here is this week’s Around the Web news roundup of Star Wars and beyond.

Book News

  • There is a new anthology raising money for CJ Henderson in his fight against cancer. The anthology entitled Dance Like A Monkey will features stories by authors like Kevin J. Anderson, Ed Greenwood, Rebecca Moesta, Michael A. Stackpole, Timothy Zahn and many others. Click here if you’d like to support the project and secure a copy of the book.
  • Star Wars author Jason Fry posted some interesting comments on tumblr. At least one of those Star Wars projects is a junior novel for Star Wars: Rebels.

1) One manuscript (Star Wars) given a final inspection and sent off. It’s never wise to say something’s done, but this one should now move to the “fielding occasional queries” stage.
2) One manuscript (Jupiter Pirates) worked on between errands, emails, travel plans and everything else on this list. Long way to go on this one.
3) One query answered for a third project (Star Wars), and a handful of minor changes requested. Fingers crossed, but this one might actually be done.
4) Query sent for a potential project (Star Wars). Will be interesting to see if this one becomes a reality or not. As projects come to an end, you better have new ones coming into view.

  • Christie Golden has a new World of Warcraft book coming out this May, War Crimes. Battle.net has an excerpt as well.
  • “The Reach of Children” by Tim Lebbon is now available on Kindle.

Don’t miss out on the special charity auction for the original manuscript for the Young Jedi Knights: Darkest Knight signed by authors Kevin J. Anderson and Rebecca Moesta. All proceeds will be going to the Pearl Foundation. The auction ends on December 1st. Winners will receive the original annotated production manuscript of Young Jedi Knights: The Darkest Knight which includes editorial and production marks throughout, hand written by Kevin J. Anderson and Rebecca Moesta.

These are the last-round polishes and approvals, different word choices, alterations for continuity. As a bonus, this package also includes a signed first-edition copy of the original publication — these books are themselves very hard to find and regularly sell for more than $100 on eBay.  This is unique and will never be offered again.  Both manuscript and the book are autographed by Kevin J. Anderson and Rebecca Moesta, and can be personalized to the winner, upon request.

Click here to check out the auction while there’s still time.

Today we wish a happy birthday to one of the most prolific female Star Wars authors, Rebecca Moesta. With twenty Star Wars books to her credit (many of them co-written with her husband, Kevin J. Anderson), fans will most likely remember her from the Young Jedi Knights and Junior Jedi Knights series. For those who stuck just to the adult Star Wars novels, she also wrote “The Ranat’s Tale” in Tales from the Mos Eisley Cantina.

You can check out more about Rebecca on her and Kevin J. Anderson’s official site Wordfire.
