Lucasfilm Announces Han Solo Anthology Movie

It’s good news for Star Wars fans because the next-up film in the Anthology series is the as yet untitled Han Solo back story.
The story focuses on how young Han Solo became the smuggler, thief, and scoundrel whom Luke Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi first encountered in the cantina at Mos Eisley.
Set to direct the movie is the duo of Christopher Miller and Phil Lord, known for The Lego Movie and Cloudy with a Chance of MeatBalls. But the best news is probably that the screenplay is written by Lawrence Kasden and his son, Jon. The elder Kasden is best known for Raiders of the Lost Ark, The Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens.
LFL is understandably enthusiastic about the project, and Kathleen Kennedy had this to say about it.
“It’s not just any filmmaker who can tell the story of such a beloved icon like Han Solo, and I’m excited to say we’ve found the perfect team to handle the task. Larry and Jon know all there is to know about the character, and Chris and Phil will bring their wit, style, energy and heart to tell Han’s story.”
The Han Solo movie is scheduled for a May 25, 2018 release.

Star Wars The Force Awakens – No New Trailer at SDCC
July 7, 2015 at 12:17 pm | Posted in Conventions, News, SDCC, Star Wars News | Leave a commentTags: chuck wendig, jj abrams, Kathleen Kennedy
According to Entertainment Weekly, one of the things you won’t be seeing at SDCC is a new trailer or any new clips from The Force Awakens. Reportedly, what you will be seeing are some cast members that haven’t already talked about their Star Wars roles — so basically anyone who isn’t called Luke, Leia, Poe, Rey or Finn. Also, there will be a behind-the-scenes look at the movie.
Ahead of the presentation panel on Friday afternoon, there will be two publishing panels; one about upcoming Star Wars books, and another with Chuck Wendig about his much anticipated filling-in-the-gaps between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens novel, Star Wars: Aftermath.

The big news this was the announcement of a new Star Wars book in The Jedi Path/The Book of Sith line that will focus on the bounty hunters. Called The Bounty Hunter Code: From the File of Boba Fett, this deluxe edition comes in the shape of a briefcase, includes extra goodies and covers info on bounty hunting with notes from the pros like Boba, Dengar, Bossk and more. Idle Hands posted a really nice write up with lots of pictures, plus Amazon has it up for pre-order. Unlike the previous books in this series, Daniel Wallace will be joined by two other authors: Ryder Windham and Jason Fry. The book is certainly in good hands.
LucasBooks editor Jen Heddle has also been tweeting a lot of lit news lately. She’s been reading the manuscripts for Maul: Lockdown by Joe Schreiber and The Star Wars by J.W. Rinzler. Some fun notes about The Star Wars: there’s a pilot character called Mace and Leia has a brother named Windy. Definitely going to be an interesting read. Continue Reading Around the Web…

The Hollywood Reporter posted a nice article on Kathleen Kennedy that sheds some light on how J.J. Abrams was brought on board for Star Wars Episode VII, as well as some comments on the projected 2015 release date.
“Our goal is to move as quickly as we can, and we’ll see what happens. The timetable we care about is getting the story.”
Click here to read the full interview. Aside from Abrams and Episode VII, it highlights Kennedy’s work on other films such as Lincoln, Raiders of the Lost Ark, and her long history with Spielberg. It’s worth reading.

In lit news, author Sean Williams has a new story out in the December issue of Cosmos Magazine entitled “The Missing Metatarsul.”
“It’s a mystery set in the future brought to the attention of two new recurring characters, PK Sargent and “Inspector” Forest, both of whom are unique in their own ways. It’s set in the same universe as Twinmaker, my first YA SF novel due November 2013.” –Sean Williams
In other news, Agent of the Empire cover artist Stephane Roux went on a rampage in Paris. According to officials he declared, “I am the French Wookiee! Hear me roar!” Shortly afterwards, this picture was taken.
