urlFox’s X-Men once again took the world by storm this past weekend, with big box office numbers and glowing reviews. The ‘inbetweequal’ as it is called, X-Men: Days of Future Past, is once again directed by franchise starter Bryan Singer, who utilizes both generations of X-Men casts. With Hugh Jackman returning as Wolverine for the seventh time, other stars Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Halle Berry,  Peter Dinklage, and Jennifer Lawrence round out the principal cast. The Times BFI London Film Festival: Chloe - PhotocallThe Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that Julianne Moore (The Lost World: Jurassic Park, The Hours, Game Change) is in talks to appear in the two part adaptation of The Hunger GamesMockingjay, written by Suzanne Collins. The films will be directed by I Am Legend‘s Francis Lawrence, and written by Buffy the Vampire Slayer alum Danny Strong.

TIME-JENNIFER-LAWRENCEJennifer Lawrence, that’s who.  She graces the cover of Time’s 100 Most Influential People annual list.  Time doesn’t rank its list, but the cover pretty much speaks for itself don’t you think?  We couldn’t agree more with Time’s choice.

‘Hunger Games’ Update: Ross Out as Director for Catching Fire

IndieWire has confirmed that negotiations between Lionsgate and director Gary Ross have broken down, and Ross has bowed out of any sequel directing.  However, it isn’t all about the money.  Although the low ball figure didn’t help, Ross is not about repeating himself.  Besides, after the success of the Hunger Games movie, he’s probably not going to have any issues with finding work.

Still, there’s some good news regarding Catching FireLionsgate and Fox have worked out any scheduling issues so Jennifer Lawrence will be able to shoot both Catching Fire and the Xmen: First Class sequel.

Meanwhile, the Huffington Post has an amusing article on director possibilities for Catching Fire.
