StarWars.com has a nice reveal for Jeffrey Brown’s next Star Wars book, Jedi Academy: Return of the Padawan.

After surviving his first year at Jedi Academy, Roan Novachez thought his second year would be a breeze. He couldn’t have been more wrong. Roan feels like he’s drifting apart from his friends, and it’s only made worse when Roan discovers he’s not the amazing pilot he thought he’d be. When the school bullies take him under their wing, he decides they aren’t so bad after all — or are they?

This year, Roan will have to face alien poetry tests, menacing robots, food fights, flight simulation class, online bullies, more lightsaber duels, and worst of all…a girl who is mad at him.

Jedi Academy: Return of the Padawan will be out in hardcover on July 29, 2014.

Last month, Star Wars author and illustrator Jeffrey Brown did a book signing at Star Clipper in St. Louis, MO. Not one to miss out on an opportunity, I showed up with a pile of books and Jeffrey was nice enough to sign them. What I didn’t know was that Jeffrey includes a little doodle with his signatures.

This is Jeffrey Brown signing the book you could win!

So for Star Wars Reads Day, we’re giving away a signed copy of Jeffrey Brown’s latest book, Jedi Academy. It’s a little different from Darth Vader and Son and Vader’s Little Princess, but still fun and full of illustrations. This signed copy comes with a doodle of the main character Roan. Newsarama posted an interview today with author Jeffrey Brown who talks a little about his upcoming Star Wars book Jedi Academy.

You’re still having huge success with Vader’s Little Princess, and Jedi Academy’s next. How will that be different from your previous Star Wars books?

Jeffrey Brown: It’s much more narrative, and based on all new characters, with the exception of Yoda. The book is also made up of a wide variety of page formats – comics, prose journal entries, letters, pages from the school newspaper, and class notes.

It’s a much different way of telling a story than anything I’ve done previously.
