Star Wars Insider #133 ‘Hunting the Gorach’
May 7, 2012 at 7:37 am | Posted in Star Wars Insider, Star Wars News | Leave a commentTags: hutts, jeff grubb, joe corroney
In case you missed it, Star Wars Insider #133 is out and it features new fiction by Scourge author Jeff Grubb. The short story is entitled Hunting the Gorach and follows the Hutt Parella the Hunter.
“The stories of the Gorach said they did not age, and met their end only by violence. I think it is a single beast you have been reporting for centuries. I will bring him to heel, and place his stuffed and preserved form in my hall. He will be a piece of art for my fellow Hutts to admire as I regale them with the tale of the hunt.”
While the story is short, it has a neat ending. Plus there are some nice illustrations by Joe Corroney. It’s worth checking out.

FANgirl Interview with Jeff Grubb
May 7, 2012 at 7:35 am | Posted in Interview, Star Wars Books, Star Wars News | Leave a commentTags: hutts, jeff grubb, scourge
FANgirl Blog posted an interview with Scourge author Jeff Grubb. It covers Mander, Reena, Angela, and of course, Hutts.
I found the Hutt characters in Scourge to be interesting individuals, while retaining a sense of “Huttness.” Are you particularly fond of Hutts? Do you have a favorite Hutt?
Jeff Grubb: I am a fan of Hutts (and most of the alien species of Star Wars). I wanted to remain true to the “brand” of Hutts, but also show variety among them, and to show Hutts struggling against their own legend (Mika, for example). Of the Hutts in the book, I would say I like Parella the best – if only because he seeks out new experiences, but never really learns from them.

Star Wars: Scourge hits stores today. We interviewed Jeff back in September last year without really knowing what to expect in the novel. So after reading and enjoying Scourge, we decided to get back in touch with Jeff to ask a few more questions. The interview covers how he ended up being his own source material at times, insight into Mander and Eddey’s characters, how the Pantorans came into play, and much more. There are some mild spoilers, so tread carefully. Continue Reading Roqoo Depot Interview with Jeff Grubb…

Roqoo Depot Reader’s Guide to Scourge
April 20, 2012 at 7:00 am | Posted in Art, Star Wars Books | 2 CommentsTags: hutt week, hutts, scourge, tempest feud
Star Wars: Scourge will be out next Tuesday, and one thing that surprised me was just how much of the Expanded Universe showed up in the novel. For a first time Star Wars novelist, Jeff Grubb really showed a comfortable ease with using elements of technology, interesting species, and a wide range of Hutt lore. We here at Roqoo Depot thought it would be fun to create a reader’s guide for fans that would help prep them for reading the book. Want to know what the aliens in the book look like? How about the ships and droids? And no Hutt novel would be complete without some Huttese, so why not brush up on the lingo?
If you’re avoiding all spoilers, you’ll want to stop now. However if you don’t mind knowing what ships, species, planets, and technology show up, then follow below for our Reader’s Guide to Scourge. Continue Reading Roqoo Depot Reader’s Guide to Scourge…

Today Scourge author Jeff Grubb did a live Facebook chat on Star Wars Books Facebook page. You can view the chat in its entirety here, or you can check out our edited transcript below.
How did you get involved in writing for the Star Wars Universe?
JG: I was recommended for the opportunity by Troy Denning (Thanks, Troy!). I’ve had a lot of experience in shared worlds and have worked with the Star Wars universe before, so it was a great opportunity.
How did the idea for SCOURGE come about?
JG: When this book was first being discussed, I pitched a number of ideas. One of them was based on an RPG adventure I had written for the Star Wars d20 Game from WotC. That project was called Tempest Feud, and forms the heart of the novel. Continue Reading Jeff Grubb Facebook Recap…
