Comic News

  • Bleeding Cool is reporting that Marvel will be doing two Star Wars monthly series and a Prince Leia comic. If this rumor is true, we might get confirmation at the Marvel: Women of Marvel panel which is Sunday 11:15 AM to 12:15 PM in Room 5AB.
  • Gabriel Hardman and Corinna Bechko will be doing a new sci-fi series for Image Comics called Invisible Republic. You can check out their interview right here.

  • WonderCon Anaheim runs April 18-20, and of great importance to Star Wars fans, there will be a Star Wars Rebels panel. Star Wars guests in attendance at the con include Katie Cook, Tommy Lee Edwards, Paul Gulacy, Mike Mayhew and Gabriel Hardman (Saturday only).

Behind the Scenes of Star Wars Rebels

Members of the cast and crew of Star Wars Rebels present an exclusive look at the highly anticipated television series. Star Wars Rebels is set between Episodes III and IV, and it is a dark time in the galaxy. In the spirit of the original trilogy, the Empire is once again the preeminent villain of the saga, and Star Wars Rebels puts the might of Imperial forces in the spotlight. Produced by Lucasfilm Animation and featuring many of the key talents from the Emmy Award-winning Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Star Wars Rebels is scheduled to premiere this fall as a one-hour special telecast on Disney Channel; it will be followed by a series on Disney XD channels around the world.

  • Kevin J. Anderson‘s new serial The Dragon Business will be out next Tuesday and is up for pre-order now on Amazon. The eight part serial will get a new episode each week. It’s only $1.99 for all eight.
  • Kevin also has a cover reveal for his upcoming novel The Dark Between the Stars. The cover is by Stephen Youll who did the cover art for several of the Star Wars anthologies books and The Bounty Hunter Wars Trilogy.
  • Daniel Wallace has a sneak peek at his upcoming book The Iron Man Manual which will be out Tuesday.

  • FANgirl Blog has been posting a bunch of awesome, original artwork featuring the characters of Empire and Rebellion: Razor’s Edge. You can check out Caline Metara (the Alderaanian pirate captain), Sian Tesar (Rebel pilot), Kifar Itran (Rebel trooper), and of course Leia.
  • Depending on how deep your pockets are, you can get this one of kind Star Wars Topps card colored by Star Wars artist Jerry Vanderstelt.
  • Star Wars artist Chris Trevas shared some cool stuff on Facebook. First off, he teased a new project he’s working on (Transformers?) and some upcoming Star Wars projects.

Chris Trevas: “Starting work on a non-Star Wars project today. What?! I think it’s been around three years since I worked on something outside that galaxy. I’m having fun painting robots from another franchise…Don’t worry. I already have another Star Wars book that will be starting fairly soon plus a few other SW projects.”

A couple weeks ago StarWars.com provided an early look at Dark Horse Comics Star Wars solicitations for December 2013. Now the official solicitations are out, and details have been revealed for Tim Siedell’s new Star Wars comic Darth Vader and the Cry of Shadows. Joining Tim on the new series is Dark Times: Fire Carrier artist Gabriel Guzman and prolific Star Wars colorist Michael Atiyeh. It also has a gorgeous cover by Star Wars newcomer Felipe Massafera. Below you’ll find all the details and more, plus more titles that weren’t mentioned in StarWars.com’s sneak peak.
