As part of the May The 4th Be With You festivities, the authors of Fate of the Jedi discuss the challenges and themes of the series. Aaron shares what he had to do to get the ball rolling with Outcast. Christie discusses jumping into Star Wars for the first time, mentions a fanfic she once wrote involving Luke and the Emperor’s daughter, and how Dorvan was originally going to be a throw away character. Denning talks about how much of the writing process is a simultaneous affair and how they deal with the avalanche as it unfolds. You can read the full article here.

Yes, Fate of the Jedi is finally over. Three years ago Aaron Allston sent us off in Outcast. With Apocalypse, Denning brought us back home. We have seen Luke Skywalker become an outlaw excommunicated from his Jedi Order. We have seen his son, Ben Skywalker, fall in love with a Sith girl named Vestara Khai. But most significantly, we have seen the terror that is Abeloth; a tentacled Force being capable of driving young Jedi insane, incorporating multiple bodies simultaneously, and literally changing the landscape of the worlds she inhabits.

Over on The Galactic Drift, Racheal A. recounted Troy Denning’s visit to the Barnes & Noble in Carmel, ID. This was the second stop on Troy Denning’s Apocalypse Book Tour, and the article recounts some of the comments Troy made to different questions, as well as an impression of the general experience. As a bonus, there’s also a video at the end so you can watch the event.

A question arose about the Legacy comics and if Denning and the others felt pressure from the events. While there’s a good chance that the books will eventual lead to that point, Denning stated that the authors and editorial staff are “trying to make the journey of how we get there interesting.”

He used the example of Jagged Fel, whom the Legacy comics revealed to be an emperor. There are things they want Jag to do before that happens.

For the record, Denning said that he didn’t know if he’d be involved or what was happening next in the EU.
