The Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer

I gotta get me one o’ these! I mean, who wouldn’t want their own antimatter detector, right? I say for this week’s Science Tuesday we all pool our money and buy one. Just remember not to cross the streams. It would be bad.
The spectrometer will be the largest instrument on the International Space Station and will be delivered by the Space Shuttle Endeavor (STS-134) which will be launching on April 29TH with astronaut Mark Kelly commanding the flight. Besides anti-matter the device will also be searching for what NASA describes as “cosmic rays” emitted from far off supernova as well as gathering other data on the make up of our universe.
Good luck to the crew of Endevour as they hunt for more answers to the very nature of our existence.
