Star Wars Books has posted micro-excerpt #2 for Honor Among Thieves by James S.A. Corey.

“You’d do that?” Leia asked, frowning. “Risk the Falcon to jump into a system we might not be able to jump back out of, filled with an unknown number of Imperial ships? You aren’t getting heroic on me, are you?”

Han raised his hands in mock surrender and grinned at her. “I don’t believe in heroes. Luke’s my friend. I don’t like the idea of leaving him there until some general decides the math is right.”

Leia stared at him for a moment, searching his face. Then she got up, but stopped at the hatch to say, “I’ll go tell the others.”

“Besides,” Han said, turning back to his console and starting the calculations for a jump to Seymarti, “Luke owes me a couple, and if I let him get killed, how can I collect?

Micro-Excerpt #1

Honor Among Thieves will be out in hardcover, digital and audiobook formats on March 4, 2014. You can find out more via Random House’s official product page which also includes a 49 page preview.

Star Wars Books has posted micro-excerpt #1 for Honor Among Thieves by James S.A. Corey.

Han crossed his arms and shrugged. “You know, I’ve never in my life been bossed around as much as since I hooked up with you rebels. It makes me wonder if you guys actually know what that word means.”

“What word?”

“Rebel.”

Scarlet carefully went over her gray maintenance jumpsuit, checking to see if her various tools and patches were all in place. She had a methodical nature Han found grating and familiar at the same time.

“We’re not anarchists,” she said, tugging at the patch on one sleeve that identified her as a level-three technician. “We have goals. We want to end the Empire.”

“And replace it with what?”

“You know what,” Scarlet said. Her crossed arms matched his own. “Are you trying to make fun of me?”

“It was rhetorical. I’ve heard the speech, sweetheart. ‘A glorious return to the Republic of old.’ To a guy like me, a new boss is still a boss.”

“Then why are you helping us?”

“Honestly? Still trying to figure that one out.”

Honor Among Thieves will be out in hardcover, digital and audiobook formats on March 4, 2014. You can find out more via Random House’s official product page.

Here is this week’s Podcasts in Review.

Backseat Book Club: Episode 24 features an interview with author Matthew Stover who digs deep into the themes he likes to explore in his books. Most notably, they cover his Acts of Caine series and the first book, Heroes Die, but they do briefly mention his tie-in work, including Star Wars. It’s a revealing look at what makes him tick as a writer and his interest in violence. He also mentions a few projects he is currently working on: a hard boiled detective novel which he is finishing up, a tie-in novel which he’ll be working on next, and a return to the Acts of Caine series in the near future.

Coffee with Kenobi: Book Chat with Martha Wells episode has a nice interview with the author of Empire and Rebellion: Razor’s Edge. Martha reveals the different aspects she strove for with the characters, the areas she wanted to avoid, how her fanfic work affected the story, and a whole lot more. If you’re looking for a download link, you can check out podbay.fm.

Here’s this week’s Podcasts in Review.

Fangirls Going Rogue: Episode 1 is a long one, almost two hours, but hosts Tricia Barr and Teresa Delgado do a good job of keeping it interesting. In their debut episode, they cover a lot of ground, introductions, an overview of their intended focus for the podcast, their opinions on fandom and women, a great interview with Star Wars: The Clone Wars voice actress Catherine Taber, and so much more. I think my highlight of the episode, aside from the interview with Cat Taber, was Tricia and Teresa’s discussion segment on Boba Fett. Tricia isn’t a big fan of Fett but Teresa is, and it was fun to hear their opinions on one of my favorite Star Wars characters.

Fictional Frontiers: Episode 261 (listed as Episode #1 on Shotglass Digital) includes an interview with Kenobi author John Jackson Miller. Fiction Frontiers’ host, Sohaib, is one of the best interviewers out there, so if you like listening to interviews, you’ll want to check this one out. As always, he does a nice job talking with John, covering his book, and touching on his upcoming projects.

Episode 265 has a nice interview with Empire and Rebellion: Razor’s Edge author Martha Wells. Sohaib covers some of the choices Martha made in the direction of the book, as well as her view on Leia, Han, and the Alderaanian pirates. The interview is spoiler free, so be sure to check it out.
