In a category one step above rumor, composer John Williams expressed interest in returning for Star Wars Episode VII. For Star Wars fans of all ages, John Williams’ classic music has always been a cornerstone of the franchise, so it’s good to hear that if the movie makers behind the new film would like him to come on board, he’s interested in doing so. Still, there has been some talk about J.J. Abrams’ go-to composer Michael Giacchino who did the music for the Star Tours ride. Either way, we’ll have to wait and see.
The British Library will make public next year a collection of over 100 diaries and letters by Alec Guinness, the actor who portrayed Obi-Wan Kenobi in A New Hope. The documents cover his life in between the 1930s to 2000, so it’s quite possible there will be some notes on his experiences in Star Wars. (via Jedi News)
Star Wars fans in the UK can look forward to a new release of the Star Wars Blu-rays in a special steelbook case. Rebelscum has a copy of the official press release.
If you’re a long time fan of the Modal Nodes then you’ll definitely want to check out Star Wars Underworld’s extensive discography of the band through the years. I’d have to say that I’m somewhat partial to their KISS period.
For more laughs, you can check out Death Star PR which is now on Youtube with a series of videos.
Fans of Aaron Allston‘s last short story “Big Plush” can now check out the author’s story notes online for free. “Big Plus” was a part of the sci-fi anthology Five By Five which included several Star Wars authors past and present. If you haven’t read it yet, I highly recommend it.
In art news, Star Wars artist Dave Dorman has opened an online store featuring some of his gorgeous Star Wars prints, and for those with deep pockets, he also has some of his originals up for sale. If you don’t have a Dave Dorman Star Wars print hanging on a wall somewhere, now is a great time to change that.
Rounding out the news, Matthew Stover‘s Heroes Die is in the running for the 2013 Audies. Stover, well known for his Star Wars books, has also written some great fantasy stories and you’ll be hard pressed to find a better one than Heroes Die which includes a bit of sci-fi as well. We wish him the best of luck.

Happy Star Wars Fathers Day

Today we bring you two Fathers Day specials. The first is a touching musical tribute to those oft under-appreciated guys — our dads.
Dads, if the day’s lagging a bit and you’ve run out of ideas, here’s a list of fun things to do with your kids. Brought to you by those special guys at Death Star PR. Here’s just a sampling of the great bonding experiences you could be having today on your special day.
11) Get Back to NatureThere’s nothing quite like roughing it to bring out the MAN in you. There’s something primal and inherently good about spending time in the great outdoors. Pitching a tent, hiking, canoeing, and skillfully hunting cute, innocent woodland creatures to death with high-powered guns from an extreme distance are all fun ways to get healthy while enjoying one another’s company. And if you think a forest sounds a bit too pedestrian, then why not try a swamp? Leeches, spooky caves filled with psychic manifestations of evil and kleptomaniacal goblins — what’s not to love?

Monday Funny: Death Star PR’s Ten Reasons Why
May 16, 2011 at 3:46 pm | Posted in Humor, Regular Feature | 2 CommentsTags: death star pr, star wars books
If you’ve never read any of Death Star PR’s tweets, you’ve missed some funny stuff. Now the folks at the big laser ball in space are at it again with ten reasons why you want to join the Galactic Empire. It seems there really are some benefits available you might consider taking advantage of.
8) Plenty of opportunities for promotionThere’s literally nothing worse than slaving away day after day, being constantly overlooked for the promotion you so richly deserve. In the Galactic Empire, our on-the-spot employee performance appraisals and liberal use of Force chokes as part of our progressive disciplinary policy ensures there are always vacancies in key management positions for young go-getters. Particularly if you have a flexible approach to certain moral grey areas (like “murder” and “oppression”) and a high pain threshold.
To see the complete list head over to Death Star PR and enjoy a laugh while you’re at it.
