Here is this week’s Podcasts in Review.
Ausfans Radio: Bonus Episode Rogus Spoilerus Maximus is a nice, casual, laid back conversation about Rogue One between Alan and guest Davis Grayson (Fandom Podcast Network). It’s also a shorter episode at just 22 minutes.
Ausfans Radio: Bonus Rogue One Spoiler Review gives a summary of the film and Alan’s opinions. This one is also a short episode at just 12 minutes.
Beltway Banthas: Episode 19 begins with guest Joseph Tavano as they talk about how Retrozap started, white supremacists boycotting Rogue One, Bob Iger joining an advisory committee for Donald Trump, Adam Driver’s comments on Kylo Ren being a terrorist, and comparing the First Order to real world entities. Then they talk with guest Brittany Hunter about the factions of the Rebellion in Rogue One as they look at American history with the likes of John Adams and Samuel Adams. Here is this week’s Podcasts in Review.
Ausfans Radio: Episode 31 features a great interview with author John Jackson Miller covering his new trilogy Star Trek: Prey. They talk about Prey, the films, the tv series, his previous Star Trek stories, and what else he has coming out. Good audio quality and very impressive for an international interview as those don’t typically have the best audio quality. Good one to check out.
Beltway Banthas: Episode XIII is a fun one as they spotlight the Star Wars character Mas Amedda and discuss his role in the politics of Star Wars. I have to admit, I’d never really considered how important his character would have been, and it definitely seems a shame that Chuck Wendig didn’t play up on that a little better in Life Debt. They do talk about the character’s role in Life Debt which could be considered a little spoilery if you haven’t read that book yet. This episode features guest Mike DeRose. If you’re an Amedda fan, you’ll love this one, and if you’re not, you might just come away with a better understanding of the character.
Bombad Radio: In Memory of Eric Cone episode pays homage to their friend and Bombad Radio contributor Eric Cone who recently passed. They talk about his deep fandom, his love for Batman, Star Trek and the creators and artists, and they share memories of the good times they had. Nice episode which manages to stay upbeat while still paying tribute to a lost friend. Continue Reading Podcasts in Review…

501stCast: Episode 86 features an interview with David Collins on The Comlink, audio of George Lucas discussing his museum, and the usual roundup of troop reports. Even if you’re not looking to catch up with what the 501st is up to, this episode is worth checking out for the David Collins interview. All the troop reports are in the later half of the show if you’re looking to skip them. Personally, I kinda like hearing the troop reports as it’s a good way to stay in touch with what’s going on with the Legion.
Assembly of Geeks: “More Star Trek, Hunger Games & Geek Gifts” covers some trailer discussion of Terminator: Genisys, Admiral 80’s thoughts on The Force Awakens teaser trailer, Star Trek 3 discussion, Hunger Games origin stories, movie awards, geek gift ideas, fun with tractor beams, and an introduction to Tricia’s replacement, Amy Marie.
Bombad Radio: Episode 179 features a nice interview the Mark Newbold. Mark talks about getting into fandom, running websites like Lightsaber and now Jedi News, his thoughts on Marvel getting the license for Star Wars back, and other Star Wars topics. Mark is humble as always and it’s a good interview. If you’re a fan of Radio 1138 or visit the site Jedi News UK, you should check out the episode as it’ll give you a better idea of who Mark is and what he and James Burns have accomplished. Backseat Book Club: Episode 24 features an interview with author Matthew Stover who digs deep into the themes he likes to explore in his books. Most notably, they cover his Acts of Caine series and the first book, Heroes Die, but they do briefly mention his tie-in work, including Star Wars. It’s a revealing look at what makes him tick as a writer and his interest in violence. He also mentions a few projects he is currently working on: a hard boiled detective novel which he is finishing up, a tie-in novel which he’ll be working on next, and a return to the Acts of Caine series in the near future.
Coffee with Kenobi: Book Chat with Martha Wells episode has a nice interview with the author of Empire and Rebellion: Razor’s Edge. Martha reveals the different aspects she strove for with the characters, the areas she wanted to avoid, how her fanfic work affected the story, and a whole lot more. Fifteen Minutes of Fiction: They have a new interview up with Steve Sansweet.
ForceCast: Had a special interview episode with The Clone Wars voice actress Ashley Eckstein. While some of the questions covered familiar ground, others covered new territory. Ashley didn’t give away anything about the lost episodes of season six, but she did touch on her work as Ahsoka and on Her Universe.
Episode 248 is out but I haven’t had a chance to listen to it yet, however the title intrigues me, “Who Doesn’t Need More Killiks?”.
Full of Sith: Episode XVII featured an interview with guest Amy Ratcliffe. The hosts ask Amy about how she got involved with Star Wars, her favorite moments and the extent of her work. It’s a nice conversation and worth a listen. Continue Reading Podcasts in Review…
