And now for some serious news: yesterday Matthew Stover revealed that he has a brainworm. Fortunately this brainworm is a character called Caine who has inspired him to write some truly great books. Stover gives a nice run down on what Caine is to him on Suvudu. Be sure to check it out.

If you haven’t read the Caine series yet, now is as good a time as ever. Especially since his latest book in the series, Caine’s Law, is still fresh on the shelves.

Matthew Stover’s Caine’s Law Cover and Blurb!

Matthew Stover’s Caine’s Law has a new cover and blurb available on the Amazon website.  Caine’s Law will be the fourth book in the Acts of Caine. Without further ado, the Caine’s Law blurb:

SOME LAWS YOU BREAK. SOME BREAK YOU.
AND THEN THERE’S CAINE’S LAW.

From the moment Caine first appeared in the pages of Heroes Die, two things were clear. First, that Matthew Stover was one of the most gifted fantasy writers of his generation. And second, that Caine was a hero whose peers go by such names as Conan and Elric. Like them, Caine was something new: a civilized man who embraced savagery, an actor whose life was a lie, a force of destruction so potent that even gods thought twice about crossing him. Now Stover brings back his greatest creation for his most stunning performance yet.

Caine is washed up and hung out to dry, a crippled husk kept isolated and restrained by the studio that exploited him. Now they have dragged him back for one last deal. But Caine has other plans. Those plans take him back to Overworld, the alternate reality where gods are real and magic is the ultimate weapon. There, in a violent odyssey through time and space, Caine will face the demons of his past, find true love, and just possibly destroy the universe.

Hey, it’s a crappy job, but somebody’s got to do it.

According to Amazon, Caine’s Law will be released on April 3, 2012 while The Random House Spring 2012 Catalog puts Caine’s Law release date on February 2, 2012.  Roqoo Depot contacted Del Rey for an official date, but alas, they’re at Comic-Con!

UPDATE:

Del Rey Editor Erich Schoeneweiss says: “The on sale date was indeed changed to April 3, 2012.”   Be sure to pick up your copy of Caine’s Law then!

Unfortunately there are no new Star Wars projects on the horizon for Mr. Stover, however, he has been busy with a few other items. First off, if you’ve been following him on Facebook you know that he has written a script for a TV demo pilot that is currently being filmed right now and the consensus is that everyone likes what he wrote. That’s no surprise to us fans, but it is good news and hopefully brings about some new projects for Mr. Stover. I’m sure we would all enjoy a TV series with him in the writing department.

On other fronts Mr. Stover’s upcoming novel His Father’s Fist has been renamed to Caine’s Law and has been given a February release date. A few hints have been dropped that the cover art for this book should be nothing less than spectacular. Personally, I can’t wait to see it. If you are unfamiliar with Mr. Stover’s work, Caine’s Law will be the fourth book in the Acts of Caine series. The previous books are Heroes Die, Blade of Tyshalle, and Caine Black Knife. The series is a wicked combination of sci-fi and fantasy set in a future world were ‘actors’ journey to another realm (Overworld) to slay orcs and go off on quests for the entertainment of everyone on Earth.

If you’d like to keep up to date with the events surrounding the TV pilot Mr. Stover is working on, as well as some behind the scenes commentary, then check out Matthew Stover’s Facebook page here, or head on over to his blog for more info including updates on all things Overworld.
