While it may be shameless self-promotion, I can’t help but geek out over the fact that Roqoo Depot is now on the back of three Star Wars book covers. If you start checking out the latest paperback Star Wars novels, you’ll notice some review blurbs on the back. You’ll find Roqoo Depot on Troy Denning’s Star Wars: Crucible, Tim Lebbon’s Dawn of the Jedi: Into the Void, and Drew Karpyshyn’s The Old Republic: Annihilation.

If you’re wondering whether or not to pick up Drew Karpyshyn’s Annihilation, Suvudu is offering a fifty page preview to convince you. Here’s what author Karpyshyn has to say about his character, Theron Shan:
Theron was a really fun character to write; he’s not as grim or serious as Bane or Revan. He knows the stakes are high, but he’s got an irreverant vibe about him that sets him apart from some of my other characters. As much as I loved writing about all-powerful Sith and Jedi, I honestly think this book is my best Star Wars work to date because the character has to work so much harder to succeed.
And, yes, Theron is the descendent of famous Jedi-turned-Sith-turned-Jedi Revan. You can find the preview here on Suvudu’s site.

FANgirl Blog posted an interview with author Drew Karpyshyn covering his upcoming book The Old Republic: Annihilation.
You are known for writing Sith Lords, like Darth Bane and Revan. Your next Star Wars novel,Annihilation, features Theron Shan, who despite his Jedi lineage, is not Force sensitive. Was it challenging to write a non-Force user? Or was it easier because he is more of an Everyman?
Drew Karpyshyn: I don’t think it was easier or harder – just different. I’ve written non-Force sensitive characters before, and many of the main characters in my Mass Effect series are more “ordinary” humans. But after writing so many ultra-powerful Sith and Jedi in the Star Wars universe, it was nice to focus on something different. As a writer, it’s important to stay fresh and do different things so you don’t burn out.

Random House has a preview of Drew Karpyshyn’s The Old Republic: Annihilation available on their website (just click on the book cover to launch the preview). The 27 page preview includes the dramatis personae and the first page for the first 13 chapters and the prologue. Annihilation will be out in hardcover, digital, and audio formats on November 13th. Having already read an advanced copy, I can tell you that his is fun book and definitely worth checking out.
