Ahsoka by E. K. Johnston, is a young adult novel in the canon that was released in October of 2016.

This book has an interesting place in my heart, because I had already started reading Star Wars books in 2016, but this was the first book that I bought on release day and read in a 24 hour period of time.

After reading Queen’s Shadow and Queen’s Peril, I was disappointed with E. K. Johnston’s writing as a whole. When I realized I’d have to reread Ahsoka, I was afraid I wouldn’t like it now as much as I did back in 2016.

I was wrong.

Here is this week’s Podcasts in Review.

Ausfans Radio: Episode 31 features a great interview with author John Jackson Miller covering his new trilogy Star Trek: Prey. They talk about Prey, the films, the tv series, his previous Star Trek stories, and what else he has coming out. Good audio quality and very impressive for an international interview as those don’t typically have the best audio quality. Good one to check out.

Beltway Banthas: Episode XIII is a fun one as they spotlight the Star Wars character Mas Amedda and discuss his role in the politics of Star Wars. I have to admit, I’d never really considered how important his character would have been, and it definitely seems a shame that Chuck Wendig didn’t play up on that a little better in Life Debt. They do talk about the character’s role in Life Debt which could be considered a little spoilery if you haven’t read that book yet. This episode features guest Mike DeRose. If you’re an Amedda fan, you’ll love this one, and if you’re not, you might just come away with a better understanding of the character.

Bombad Radio: In Memory of Eric Cone episode pays homage to their friend and Bombad Radio contributor Eric Cone who recently passed. They talk about his deep fandom, his love for Batman, Star Trek and the creators and artists, and they share memories of the good times they had. Nice episode which manages to stay upbeat while still paying tribute to a lost friend. Continue Reading Podcasts in Review…

Filoni: Abrams,Ahsoka and the Bonus Content

tcw-plo-koon-clip (1)In an exclusive to USA Today, Dave Filoni discusses TCW and the upcoming bonus content, particularly a tease regarding Jedi Master Sifo-Dyas and a Plo Koon arc.

“The Jedi have been fighting a war with an army that was commissioned by one of their own, Jedi Master Syfo-Dias, but who was Syfo-Dias, and what happened to him? The dark lord of the Sith has woven an intricate web to ensnare the Jedi, but it is not full-proof and sometimes a small clue, and a bit of chance, can lead to the unraveling of the best-laid plans.”

Filoni and his team are putting the final touches on the bonus content and he admits that it’s “bittersweet”, but they’re also pretty excited.

“They are easily some of the best things we were able to do, and I think we’re all glad we were able to finish them.”

Dave Filoni also has some advice for director JJ Abrams — be innovative.

“That’s kind of what we have that’s special, because we grew up with it, and if there’s one thing I learned from George it’s that you take that and you channel it forward into new exciting things the audience didn’t know possible, because that’s what Star Wars always did — it always moved forward.”

‘The Clone Wars Season 5: A War on Two Fronts’ Review

‘A War on Two Fronts’ launches the Jedi off into dangerous territory as they try to assist a resistance cell on Onderon. But is it the right move for the Jedi?

Skuldren: I really liked how the episode kicked off with some intelligent and intriguing commentary amongst the Jedi leadership. Very quickly things boil down to Yoda and Obi-Wan taking a very cautious approach to any assistance of rebels on Onderon. On the other hand, both Mace Windu and Anakin Skywalker are whole heatedly in support of helping the rebels. Continue Reading ‘The Clone Wars Season 5: A War on Two Fronts’ Review…

You know it when you see it and everyone does it.  You’ve seen it in James Kirk’s artfully torn uniform, Virtual Six in the the re-imagined Battlestar Galactica, and the Denna Troi/William Riker scenes in Star Trek: The Next Generation.   Here’s our list of the top five Star Wars memorable fanservice moments!

#5  A simple bug-cuddle between friends

Dark Nest 1: The Joiner King‘s Jaina and Zekk’s bug-cuddling moment is memorable because it was designed to appeal to Jaina/Zekk shippers, but in the end it just made everyone gag. While fans were later grossed out by the words “membrosia excess” in the next paragraph, this moment later paved the way for the Zekk-Jaina-Jag love triangle in the Legacy of the Force series — and lots of arm rubbing (shudder!).  It remains to this day one of the closest moments the EU has had a to sex scene.

A weight lay across Jaina’s chest, and the inside of one ear was being warmed by a soft, pulsing growl.  The dormitory was filled with a comforting melange was filled of refresher soup and body smells from a dozen species, but predominant odor, familiar and musky and strongest, was human.

Male human.

Zekk.

Commander Cody expertly chases off a flight of droid ships from an Ugnaught mine, but could that really be the end of the Separatist attack? It’s up to Obi-Wan and Yoda to find out…

There are so many clones in this issue that you’ll need to pay close attention to this issue’s handy ‘Spotters Guide!’ Meet the awesome Delta Squad and discover your clone destiny by taking the Clone Troopers Engineering exam — are you pilot material or will you be stuck with kitchen duty?
