The Other Dead #2 continues the zombie animal outbreak. In this issue, the President heads to Louisiana to face the crisis head on. Meanwhile the main characters fend off the first wave of zombie animals. But does this series have what it takes to stand on its own?

Overall, issue #2 lacks some of the punch the first one had. Keep in mind, we saw Dick Cheney get mauled by a zombie deer in issue #1. That’s going to be hard to top. In this issue we get some secret service agents being massacred by a pack of zombie dogs. Members of a punk-goth band get attacked by zombie ducks and gators along with their stripper girlfriends and one guy’s little brother. I can’t say that I’m a fan of the punk rockers or the strippers, but their may be hope for the little brother who appears to be the smartest character of the bunch. I’m also hoping to see the President kill some zombies, though sadly that didn’t happen in this issue.

The art is different. It works, it’s detailed, it conveys emotion and action, but it’s not my favorite style. Combined with the story, which didn’t have a whole lot going for it, I have to give The Other Dead #2 a three out of five metal bikinis. Hopefully the next one can spin things around.
