Star Wars Adventures #21 packs in two stories. One is a Luke and Han story with swoop racing, the other is about Kabe on Tatooine. Both are fun little stories.

The first one is called “Swoop Racers” and takes place on Rion. Leia sends them to get some supplies, but Han spends the money on a swoop race which he himself enters. With the bounty on his head, he attracts attention, and the other racers try to take him out. Luke helps out and Han ends up winning, however, Luke takes Han’s winnings and gives them all to the seller for the supplies. Not sure anyone learned their lesson there except don’t trust Luke with your award money.

The other story is “The Heist” and stars Kabe, the little bat faced alien in the Mos Eisley Cantina. Low on money, Kabe can’t afford any blue milk, but she overhears a job that’ll pay lots of credits, so she goes off to make some riches. She sneaks onto an Imperial ship, steals a device, and returns it for the reward money. She caps it off by getting that blue milk she wanted. Interestingly, Kabe doesn’t speak at all in the issue. Instead her word balloons have pictures. All in all, it’s a neat little Kabe story as we don’t get much of her.

The artwork for both issues is good, but very different art styles. The first one is bright, shiny and cartoony. It does a good job of portraying the characters, aliens and the action. The second one is much more artistic, though, and is not the usual style you see in comics. I really like the way the portray Kabe in that style.

With two fun little stories with good artwork, I give Star Wars Adventures #21 a four out of five baby nexus.
