“Better The Devil You Know, Part 2” wraps up the story of Unkar’s kidnapping as Rey rescues the blobfish. There’s lots of action, so humor and wit as Rey and Unkar work together to get free, and even some double-crossing and payment of debts. It’s a fun little story with bright artwork and enjoyable panels.

Next up is another story in the Tales From Wild Space. “The Flat Mountain of Yavin” stars Evaan Verlaine from the Princess Leia mini-series that Marvel did. It takes place during the battle of Yavin, right as the Rebels are trying to evacuate their base. In a side operation to gain control of a Star Destroyer, the Rebels lose control of the ship as it’s destined to fire upon the Rebel base. Evaan is able to figure out a way to save the base and the day. It’s an okay story that plays a little fast and loose with canon since no Star Destroyers are ever seen in the film during the battle of Yavin, and it’s a bit far fetched to have the Rebels not only taking out the Death Star that day, but also commandeering a Star Destroyer. However, there is a good message in the story, and it does make use of Evaan who has been pretty much forgotten elsewhere. The artwork isn’t quite as good in this one, but it’s not too bad.

After the two stories, Star Wars Adventures #2 also packs in a “Dispatches From Wild Space” section which details the droids, BB-00 and CR-8R. Plus there’s a cover gallery, although it’s all crammed on one page. Overall, not a bad issue. I give it a three out of five metal bikinis. The Rey story was the stronger of the two, and if you read the first issue, you’ll definitely want to catch this one to see how it ends.
