Star Wars Adventures #11 has some fun little romps with familiar characters. Han and Chewie deal with bounty hunters 4-LOM and Zuckuss on an alien world with murderous scorpion droids, and Lando deals with a troublesome Nautolan kid who wants to be a gangster. This issue wraps up both stories.

With “Powered Down, Part 2” Han and the bounty hunters continue backstabbing each other. It’s kind of funny how this story is just one long adventure of double crosses as everyone lies and tries to out trick each other. Who will outsmart who? Well, of course Han and Chewie come out on top, but it does add some color to the bounty hunters since we don’t see too much from them in other stories or in the movies.

“Family Affair, Part 2” wraps up the second story as Lando tries to teach a kid why the gangster life isn’t all it’s wrapped up to be. However, Askroh takes offense at Lando’s viewpoint on gangsters. He does help Lando out in trying to scare the kid straight, but he seems to hit a nerve with Lando. For the rest of the issue, Lando isn’t his cocky self. In fact it’s a little murky with the ending. Is Lando ashamed of his past life? Does he feel like he’s trying to be someone he isn’t? Or does he feel like he needs to be doing more good than he is? I’m not really sure.

As for the artwork, I liked the first story better than the second. Derek Charm’s style has a bit more polish and glam to it. Something about it is just more appealing. Elsa Charretier’s artwork isn’t bad, though. All in all, they both look good.

With some fun little stories and some fun artwork, I give Star Wars Adventures #11 four out of five nexus.
