Star Wars #74

Star Wars #74

Writer: Greg Pak
Artist/Cover Artist: Phil Noto
Letterer: Clayton Cowles

Greg Pak has been on a role with one bad Star Wars comic after another. It begs the question – can it get any worse? To be honest, it’s more or less on par with the others which isn’t saying much. At least the story starts to move along in this issue, finally.

On Sergia, Luke leaves Warba and the Rebels there evacuate. He never did find the Imperial probe droids, so I’m not sure what the point of that whole storyline was. Luke already met some people on Jedha, so the whole Warba thing seemed like a complete waste as well. The real topper of this whole story arc is the rock people on K43. They’re able to generate electricity thus magically solving the whole bomb problem that has been going on forever. Talk about overly convenient. Luke stops by to pick up Chewbacca and 3PO, but his ship loses power and Chewbacca then fights Vader. The weird thing is Vader’s suit should have lost power too, but he started working again for some reason. The issue ends with Vader choking Chewie. That’s about the only interesting thing in the whole issue.

While Greg Pak isn’t getting any better, Phil Noto at least is staying good. The artwork in this issue does it’s job even though the writing isn’t.

Overall, I give this one another two out of five metal bikinis.
