More nonsensical and weak storytelling lead to another disappointing issue in Star Wars #73.
Things begin with Han being interrogated by Boss Carpo, who is a Bith. Boss Carpo makes a Deal with Han, Leia and Dar. If they kill the Imperial Governor, he’ll let them all go. Back on the rock planet, Vader tries to mind control the rock people and fails. He blames it on C-3PO for some reason. It’s not really clear what was going on there. Meanwhile Luke catches up with Warba, fails to convince her to give back his lightsaber, then goes and stirs up all kind of trouble with the Imperials and Warba suddenly changes her mind and gives him back his lightsaber. It’s a lot of thin storytelling with “reasons” to make things go forward to whatever inevitable junction Greg Pak is heading toward. It’s not a satisfying read and it’s best not to dig too deep less you see more flaws.
Phil Noto is still doing a good job with the artwork. The characters looks good. The action looks good, and even the covers look good.
With good artwork and bad writing, Star Wars #73 gets a two out of five metal bikinis.
