Solo #7

Solo: A Star Wars Story Adaptation #7 (of 7)

Solo: A Star Wars Story Adaptation #7 wraps up the run but without any big payout. There’s a couple visual bonuses, but nothing storywise. Like pretty much the entire series, it sticks close to the movie.

The issue starts with Q’ira fighting Dryden and ends with Han and Chewie on the Falcon going to hyperspace. There’s some extra scenes in between Han and Chewie leaving Savareen and meeting up with Lando, but the panels aren’t very clear on what’s going on. There’s four panels which show them sneaking around, possibly stealing a speeder bike on another planet and running from gunfire, and then getting into a fight, maybe somewhere else, while Han is tied up. There’s no text to provide any context for what’s going on. However, it does indicate some things happened before they wound up on Numidian Prime, which is where Lando is when Han plays him and wins the Falcon.

The art’s pretty good in this issue, but it’s not enough to make up for the lack of extra story or bonus content. If you’ve seen the movie, this comic doesn’t add anything extra to make it worthwhile. Once again, this one is for collectors and completionists. I give it a two and a half out of five metal bikinis. If you’re not compelled to have every Star Wars comic out there, I’d recommend skipping this adaptation entirely.
