Poe Dameron #25 wraps up the Lor San Tekka arc, “Legend Found,” as Black Squadron tries to rescue him from the void of space and the clutches of the First Order. This issue ends on a happy note as it ties things up so new stories can be told. But there’s equal measures of loss and joy in this one.

It starts with a soliloquy. Alone in space, Tekka reflects on his life. Soon, the action finds him. Black Squadron fights the First Order in a back-and-forth game that could go either way at several points. But in the end, the good guys win. Though not everyone makes it out of the fight. I have to admit, I was sorry to see the character go. In that regard, Soule did a good job of laying the ground work to make me care about that character.

Afterwards, we get an interesting moment between Tekka and Leia. That in turn is followed by another interesting moment between Poe and Tekka. Plus there’s a marriage which comes out of nowhere. So, with all the action and the hunt for Tekka, this issue covers a lot of story beats.

With the artwork, overall, it’s good. But there is one thing I’d like to point out, and that’s how colorful they made space. The action takes place in a nebula, so rather than just getting a black backdrop with white pin pricks, there’s a miasma of color serving as the background in every panel. It’s a nice, gorgeous element to the artwork. While not a trick you can pull every time, they pulled it off well in this one.

In the end, it’s a satisfying issue. Good artwork. Good story. I give this one a four out of five metal bikinis.
