Jinnrise #9 continues to build the plot and the characters while diving into some fun action. Issue #9 brings new genies and new badguys. Harris’ secret is finally revealed. Plus the team bonds together as they prepare for an ultimate showdown.

Most of the action takes place in Japan as the heroes seek out the last of two remaining genie bottles. As before, a challenge awaits. This time it’s a giant dragon. Meanwhile their enemy is taking action by seeking out the other bottle. The Kibr frees the last genie, and unlike the others, this one has a malevolent bent. Joining forces with the Kibr and his alien army, the jinn known as Ghul Mahkir hopes to avenge himself against his old foe, Jabal.

With some character building, decent dialog, fun action, and lots of plot development, Jinnrise #9 is a solid issue. The artwork looks great and there’s plenty of anticipation for the next issue. Will the good guys defeat the Kibr? Will the badguys kill any jinn? Will the jinn armies be set free? The balance of force could easily be swayed either way, so it’ll be interesting to see the outcome and how they maintain that balance while still delivering a satisfying battle.

As is, I give this issue a five out of five metal bikinis. It has good artwork, good characters, and a good story.
