Injustice Gods Among Us: Year Two #8 is a big setup issue for the war to come. Seven months have passed. The armies have gathered. The time has come. But will Superman be brought down or will more good heroes be brought to an early end?
In the first part of this issue, there’s another meeting between Harley and Black Canary. Like the previous issue, Tom Taylor does a great job with the characters. That portion is also illustrated by Bruno and Julien with colors by Rex. To say the least, the imagery is superb. Meanwhile Sinestro uses duplicity to fool everyone into his good graces. Last, but not least, the Green Lanterns bring a planet to the fight. That’s a lot of awesomeness packed into the first half of the comic.
The second part of the issue has the Green Lanterns racing for Earth, Superman compelling everyone to come and fight, and Batman giving his own speech to rally the opposition. Thus the pieces are all in play for the impending war.
Visually, it’s a good looking issue with a little action and a log of great dialog. There’s some good character moments, making it worthwhile and not just an issue to blow through to get to the big battle royale to come. The character moments are so good in fact that I give Year Two #8 a five out of five metal bikinis.
