The cover shows Harley Quinn and Lobo, and that’s just what this issue delivers. Injustice: Gods Among Us Annual #1 is packed with fun as Lobo the crazy, unstoppable galactic bounty hunter brawls with Superman and Harley Quinn. Harley really shines and there’s some great scenes with Green Arrow. Whether you’ve been following the series or not, this is one issue worth checking out.

The art in this issue is solid with nice coloring and good panel layouts. There’s good attention given to the characters providing excellent close-ups and cool looking, larger sized spreads. The visuals are outshined only by the writing.

First off, this issue would not work without the great characterization. Lobo is very much a larger than life character and Tom Taylor nails him. Even so, he’s skillfully balanced out by the rest of the cast. Tucked into a smart story, there’s a lot to enjoy in this issue. The humor is certainly one of the highlights.

With so much fun packed into one issue, this annual is a great standalone buy. As a new chapter in the series, it’s just plain fun. The art team provides some excellent visuals and Tom Taylor nails the story. Injustice: Gods Among Us Annual #1 is a five out of five metal bikinis.
