Goodnight Darth Vader

Goodnight Darth Vader quite simply is the perfect bedtime book for your youngest kids. It’s filled with gorgeous artwork and lots of scenes of the various characters of Star Wars getting ready for bed. This 64 page hardcover won’t take long to read, but will hopefully put your children in just the right mindset to fall asleep. And for us older Star Wars fans, there’s some nice nods to the films.

Like Darth Vader and Son and Vader’s Little Princess, Goodnight Darth Vader features some beautifully colored artwork of the galaxy far, far away. The book has full page artwork with quick little rhyming captions and a few word balloons here and there for the characters being portrayed. If you sit down and read it cover to cover, it’ll only take about 10 minutes but the pictures certainly add a lot to the book. This is some of Jeffrey Brown’s best artwork yet.

However, unlike Darth Vader and Son and Vader’s Little Princess, Goodnight Darth Vader is completely oriented toward children. Whereas those other books had a lot of humor and could be enjoyed by adults, this one is entirely a children’s bedtime story. It’s perfect in that role, but it’s also exclusive to that focus.

As children’s bedtime storybook with some great Star Wars artwork, I give Goodnight Darth Vader a three out of five nexu.
