Rogues Rebellion #1 is kind of interesting considering it consists of a cast I’m unfamiliar with. The Rogues return to Central City to find it in chaos. Unlike other badguys, they’re not too happy to find their hometown in ruins. This puts them at odds with the new rulers of the world, the Crime Syndicate.

Since I’m not familiar with the Flash and the badguys he fought, this issue covers a lot of new territory for me. Captain Cold, Trickster, Weather Wizard, Mirror Master and Heatwave team up to find themselves fighting other villains loyal to the Crime Syndicate. All of this of course ties into the DC Comic series Forever Evil and the events that have unfolded so far in issues #1 and #2. The Rogues hold their own surprisingly well, but at the end, reinforcements arrive which could steal away their victory. Either way, I liked seeing a group of badguys that weren’t entirely evil. The characterizations were well done and the story was very enjoyable.

The one bad thing about the issue is the art. It starts off good with some really nice artwork. Then there is an art change and everything becomes very cartoony. If they could have stuck with the artist they had for the first nine pages, this issue would have been great. As is, it’s still pretty good. I give it a three out of five metal bikinis.
