Doctor Aphra #6 wraps up the Ordu Aspectu arc and launches the doctor on a new trajectory. Her and her father deal with the Eternal Rur, the Imperials and restoring her doctorate. But there’s also a couple surprises along the way.

The issue opens with the Imperials struggling to deal with Rur’s robot horde. Elsewhere, Aphra manages to persuade the Eternal Rur into explaining what happened with the Ordu Aspectu. More or less, the original Rur tried making a copy of his intellect that could be preserved. However, instead of making a holocron, he accidentally made an intelligent and evil machine bent on destruction and conquest. Fast forwarding back to the present, Eternal Rur decides to start over with the whole extermination program. Thus, Aphra has to come up with an escape plan.

The story is pretty good as it’s fast paced and provides some closure. The female Imperial officer is not killed off, but the tie between her and Aphra is deepened, for better or worse depending on if she seeks vengeance. Later on, Aphra pays off her ship and gets reunited with Krrsantan and her murder bots. Plus she gets a new outfit. It keeps the story entertaining from beginning to end.

The artwork is about the same as it’s been. It conveys the story, the action and the character emotions. However it sticks to a very cartoonish style which may or may not work for some fans. It’s certainly not the best art, but it’s not the worst either.

As is, I give Doctor Aphra #6 a four out of five metal bikinis, and I’m still onboard for the series as it continues. That said, there will be a small break as Aphra jumps over into the Screaming Citadel cross-over, so we’ll see her in The Screaming Citadel #1, then Star Wars #31, and then finally back in Doctor Aphra #7 which will have a different artist.
