Doctor Aphra #31 wraps up the “Worst Among Equals” storyline as Aphra and Triple Zero are finally freed of the bombs in their head. The two double crossers and murders find salvation and redemption among themselves and a few odd friends. It’s a satisfying little end to the storyline.

The issue opens with Triple Zero walking off to kill them both due to the proximity sensor with the bombs. Stray too far away from each other and they go off. Thus Aphra has to convince Triple Zero that he has something to live for. That answer comes from his best murder buddy, BT. Aphra manages to fix the droid and save Triple Zero from killing them both. However, that doesn’t save them from the timer on their bombs. Winloss and Nokk come into play for that one as they stop Evazan and Ponda Baba. All the way the Imperial propaganda division watches this disaster play out and fails to stop it and save face for the Empire. It’s a win all around for Aphra, except she gets shot and is not exactly saved at the end of the issue, thought it’s not likely she’ll die either since the series is continuing on.

The artwork throughout is good. It’s easy enough to follow the action and see the emotion on the characters’ faces. It’s not the best artwork, but it’s pretty good and gets the job done.

With a good story and good art, plus a satisfying conclusion to the arc, I give Doctor Aphra #31 a four out of five metal bikinis. The series still has its momentum and its interest.
