Doctor Aphra #25 is kind of deliciously evil. With Vader and the murder bots after her, Aphra gets desperate. But Tolvan offers herself to help save Aphra. Of course, nothing ever goes well for Aphra. It would seem happy endings will never go her way.

Spurrier makes some pretty wicked storytelling decisions in this comic. We see Aphra willing to sacrifice her memories in order to stay alive. We see Tolvan offering to spare Aphra that sacrifice by giving up her own memories. We see Aphra kind of double cross Tolvan in order to ensure her own survival. We see Triple Zero go Freddy Krueger on Tam Posla. We see Vader destroy BT. And we see who Lopset really is, which just adds to all the wickedness in this story. Like I said, it’s deliciously evil. There’s no happy ending for Aphra. She gets what she deserves.

The art is a little silly in its exaggerations, giving it a cartoonish edge, but it’s not too bad. It still works. It robs the story a little of its seriousness, but it does meld weld with the dark humor in it. The coloring is pretty good, offering a variety of colors that keep things from getting boring.

With a great story and good artwork, I give Doctor Aphra #25 a five out of five metal bikinis. This one was pretty satisfying.
