The auction continues in Doctor Aphra #10, and while the winner isn’t a big shocker, the party crasher is. There’s lot of talking, some character development, and a bit of action in this issue, but the big payout is the promise for what’s to come. It’s certainly going to get interesting.

For most of this issue, it’s Aphra talking with each of the potential buyers, hearer their offers, and weighing their terms. From Toov and the Cyban Front to the Shadow University and the Ezaraa, she gets a lot of offers. There’s some friction when Krrsantan sees the Xonti Brothers who are gladiatorial trainers. Meanwhile Bee-Tee and Triple Zero create their own mischief. Without spoiling anything, the issue ends on a nice hook. You get to find out who the winner of the auction is, and there’s a dramatic turn of events.

Storywise, Doctor Aphra #10 is pretty solid, especially given so much of the issue is focused on conversation. There’s not much action. This allows the issue to focus on Aphra and her interactions with others. It gets to highlight some of the other lowlifes in the galaxy, and shed some light on who they are rather than just showing their faces in a crowd. With the turn of events in the end, it creates suspense and interest for the readers.

The art is also pretty good. There’s a lot of detail, and while some panels are better than others, overall it’s good.

In the end, I give Doctor Aphra #10 a four out of five metal bikinis. It’s be neat to see where this goes next.
