Ben finds the Knights of Ren and tells them about fighting three Jedi. He tries to convince them he’s paid the price for admission, so he tells them about each one.

Of course Ben has a tragic tale of how he was forced to act, and how he accidentally killed each one of them, despite trying not to. He gets some bad boy clothes so he can hang out with the Knights of Ren, and it’s revealed to the reader that he actually hasn’t killed quite that many people. Ben thinks he wants to explore the dark side, but he actually hasn’t done anything that dark yet. The story also implies that Ben thinks he’s worse than what he is. That maybe he thinks he’s a bad person, but isn’t. To be honest, though, it’s all kind of boring. It feels forced on one hand, and this kind of character exploration really needs a book to dive deep into the nuance and reason for why Ben turned. Doing it in a comic just isn’t doing it justice.

The artwork is great, but the story leaves you wanting a whole lot more. Charles Soule is good, but I don’t think he’s up for this. It’s just too much to ask of a mini-series. As is, I give this issue a three out of five metal bikinis.
