Sharknado 2Always ready to do a public service, Roqoo Depot would like to remind everyone that Sharknado 2 premiers tonight on Syfy at 8 PM Eastern.  And in case you were in a cave somewhere on another planet and missed Sharknado The Original, it will play prior to its eagerly anticipated sequel at 6 PM Eastern.

Correction: that’s 9 Eastern and 8 Central (7 Eastern for original Sharknado).  Sorry, I was looking at my own listing times.  My bad.

You can also join Syfy Blastr’s Aaron Sager on twitter @Blastr, hashtag #Sharknado2 for some live tweeting.

Sharknado

OMG, I just died and went to heaven.  I can’t wait until July 11 and the gloriousness that will be Sharknado.  As if  rampaging sharks isn’t enough, you also get Tara Reid, Ian Zierling and John Heard.  You may or may not remember Ian Zierling from the old Beverly Hills 90210 (we were never quite sure why his character was in that show).  John Heard has multiple credits, the latest being the Dragon on Merlin!.  And Tara Reid — well, she’s Tara Reid.
You can get a sneak peak of this Syfy original move here, and read a review here.  But we have to join in with reviewer, Foywonder.

“It’s raining sharks, hallelujah!”

To kick things off, how about some reassuring news regarding Dark Horse Comics and Star Wars. According to Bleeding Cool, Star Wars will be with Dark Horse Comics for the entirety of 2014.

They will continue to make Darth Vader miniseries, Star Wars Legacy will remain an ongoing book and will alternate between artists every six issues and the mini-series based on George Lucas’ original drafts, The Star Wars, will have a radically different logo to differentiate it.

Star Wars artist Dave Dorman did a video interview with Slice of SciFi which you can watch here. Dave talks about how he got started and what he’s up to now. Continue Reading Around the Web…

New ‘Merlin’ Season 5 Trailer

Just released by BBC, the new season 5 Merlin trailer.  Julian Murphy (Merlin co-creator) has this to say about the new season:

“I think it’s interesting because you saw a glimpse (of a stronger, focused and more powerful Merlin) at the end of the last series, particularly when he killed Agravaine.  We’re really interested in taking him on that journey with all its dangers and the temptations it will bring, so that will be a big part of the fifth series.”

Also be on the lookout for some guest stars (hint: Game of Thrones).

Merlin will be carried on BBC One in the fall and for U.S. audiences on Syfy in January, 2013

On Syfy Merlin’s fourth season premieres tonight at 9 PM Eastern with The Darkest Hour Part I.  As usual, Morgana is up to her old tricks.

As well January 11th sees the beginning of  season 2 of Faceoff on Syfy.  If you’re at all into movie magic, this is a show worth catching.

Movies premiering this weekend include Beneath the Darkness with Dennis Quaid.  Quaid plays a mortician living in a funeral home with a woman’s corpse for a roommate.  A group of high schoolers — including Friday Night Lights Aimee Teegarten — attempt to expose him with murderous results.

And if you just can’t get enough of demonic possession done in lost footage style, there’s The Devil Inside.

If you don’t feel like watching TV or seeing a movie this weekend, here’s some free reads you can take advantage of:

On his official website , George R.R. Martin has released an excerpt from The Winds of Winter, Book 6  of the Song of  Fire and Ice series.  Since the author expressly forbids any reproduction without his written permission, we can’t provide a sample here but you can click on the link we provided to read the excerpt.

Have a Kindle? Thanks to Entertainment Weekly online, you can download some free classics onto it. The list includes classic mystery authors Wilkie Collins and Arthur Conan Doyle, perennial classics favorites Jane Austin and the wit of Mark Twain.
