Here is this week’s Podcasts in Review.

Blast Points: Episode 64 kicks off with news, some The Last Jedi stuff, scene descriptions, and then they get to what may be the best Star Wars holiday of all, St. Panaka Day! They celebrate Captain Panaka like no other with all of his dialog from The Phantom Menace, rating each line on grumpiness which turns out to be really fun. They talk about the character, and even go into why he wasn’t in Attack of the Clones. Excellent episode.

Blast Points: Episode 65 is Jason and Gabe geeking out on Star Wars Rebels “Twin Suns.” This one is fun from the get go. They talk about how Obi-Wan knows Ezra’s name, the duel, how perfect Obi-Wan is, Luke being the chosen one, and the glimpse of Luke. Great episode.

Bombad Radio: What If with The Witcher features Jeremiah and Chris Cannon as they discuss the possibility of a movie of The Witcher with lots of fan casting. Should it be based off the books or the games, and who would play who? Good episode for fans of the series. Continue Reading Podcasts in Review…

Here is this week’s Around the Web news roundup of Star Wars and beyond.

Book News

  • This one is beyond Star Wars, but written by Star Wars authors. Kevin Hearne and Delilah S. Dawson will be teaming up to write a book called Kill The Farm Boy which will be published by Del Rey. It’s quite the tongue and cheek title, and given the authors involved, this one will probably be a lot of fun. Here’s the project in Kevin’s own words…

About a year ago my buddy Delilah S. Dawson and I were killing an hour in the Dallas airport and we came up with an idea for messing with fantasy tropes in a humorous fashion. KILL THE FARM BOY was born. Had to file it away for a while and enjoy some tacos. But a couple months ago, because of, you know, THE WORLD, we needed something lighthearted to work on as therapy. So we started writing a proposal. We outlined the book and wrote five sample chapters that made us both laugh. We also came up with ideas for a couple more books.

And what do you know? Del Rey thought they were funny too and said we can go ahead and write them! So that’s coming, friends. KILL THE FARM BOY will be out next year. Delilah and I are taking turns writing chapters while we also work on our solo projects.

I think y’all are going to dig it. We’re laughing out loud as we do this.

  • In Star Wars book news, Amazon now has a look at the cover for Star Wars: On the Frontlines by Daniel Wallace.
  • Author Paul S. Kemp has posted his short story “Continuum” online for free. This story connects Shadowstorm and Shadowrealm., books two and three of The Twilight War.

Here is this week’s Podcasts in Review.

Assembly of Geeks: Star Wars Spin-Offs Beyond 2020 starts with news, DC comic sales, they talk video game movies, then head into Star Wars spin-off film ideas like Boba Fett, Kenobi, Yoda and Ahsoka. That and more in this episode, pretty good.

Blast Points: Episode 41 kicks off with some Bendu impersonations as they get into the groove of the new season of Star Wars Rebels. But before they get into the season premiere, they cover some news, the Star Wars 2020 comments, the composer change up for Rogue One, Moroff and Pao, and the credit change for Filoni. Then they get into Rebels as they talk about Hondo and his Ugnaught crew, the Bendu, the similarity to the end of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, and more. Fun episode as always, but with the AC/DC soundbyte, I have to give them high praise. It is my favorite band after all, so hats off to good taste.

Blast Points: Episode 42 starts with news as they talk about the final Rogue One trailer, some new info on Rogue One creatures and characters, plus some other rumors, speculation and news on Sabine and Maul. Then they talk about Star Wars toy releases. They have on guest Kile Moore as they talk Force Friday, play some audio clips from standing in line with fans, and compare this year to last year. Some good discussion. The conversations with fellow fans really added a nice touch. Continue Reading Podcasts in Review…

Here is this week’s Podcasts in Review.

Ausfans Radio: Episode 31 features a great interview with author John Jackson Miller covering his new trilogy Star Trek: Prey. They talk about Prey, the films, the tv series, his previous Star Trek stories, and what else he has coming out. Good audio quality and very impressive for an international interview as those don’t typically have the best audio quality. Good one to check out.

Beltway Banthas: Episode XIII is a fun one as they spotlight the Star Wars character Mas Amedda and discuss his role in the politics of Star Wars. I have to admit, I’d never really considered how important his character would have been, and it definitely seems a shame that Chuck Wendig didn’t play up on that a little better in Life Debt. They do talk about the character’s role in Life Debt which could be considered a little spoilery if you haven’t read that book yet. This episode features guest Mike DeRose. If you’re an Amedda fan, you’ll love this one, and if you’re not, you might just come away with a better understanding of the character.

Bombad Radio: In Memory of Eric Cone episode pays homage to their friend and Bombad Radio contributor Eric Cone who recently passed. They talk about his deep fandom, his love for Batman, Star Trek and the creators and artists, and they share memories of the good times they had. Nice episode which manages to stay upbeat while still paying tribute to a lost friend. Continue Reading Podcasts in Review…
