Josh Trank to Direct ‘Star Wars’ Stand-Alone Film

While it was recently reported by StarWars.com that Gareth Edwards, director of the recent hit Godzilla, will be helming a Star Wars stand-alone movie, it has now been reported that he will be joined in the Star Wars universe by Chronicle’s Josh Trank. Currently directing Fox’s reboot to The Fantastic Four, Trank will helm a second Star Wars movie.

Movie Review: ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’

Fox’s X-Men once again took the world by storm this past weekend, with big box office numbers and glowing reviews. The ‘inbetweequal’ as it is called, X-Men: Days of Future Past, is once again directed by franchise starter Bryan Singer, who utilizes both generations of X-Men casts. With Hugh Jackman returning as Wolverine for the seventh time, other stars Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Halle Berry, Peter Dinklage, and Jennifer Lawrence round out the principal cast. Star Wars Episode VII finally has a release date! (via StarWars.com) It’ll be released on December 18th, 2015, just in time for the Holidays!
What with Summer 2015’s already packed schedule, and potential production delays with Episode VII, rumors have been swirling with news of the next Star Wars installment being in the final quarter of 2015. This marks the first time a Star Wars film has not been released in May. However, this also distances Episode VII from other big blockbusters of the year, like Avengers: Age of Ultron, and Jurassic World.

Star Wars 1313 Still In Production

So in a very intriguing article from The Inquirer chief technology strategy officer Kim Libreri talks about how developments in video game technology is changing the post production process of movies. using motion capture technology they can add real time effects to movies. In a very interesting twist at the end of the article it is said that Star Wars 1313 is still in production!!
To wrap up Libreri showed off a video demonstrating Lucasfilm’s “performance capture stage” driving the game engine for 1313, which is still in production. The video shows the possibilities of this converging world of video games and movies and can be viewed below.

It’s looking to be another busy week of Star Wars rumors fans!! So we’ve heard that New Mexico is being talked about for a Star Wars location shoot and Latino-Review has the exact location of the filming!! Las Cruces, fans the City of the Crosses!! This location could work very well for a few Star Wars locales.
Also LR has the lowdown on all those Benedict Cumberbatch denials. Check out the link above to get the full scoop on these two things as well as who went in for a reading for the new movie!! Lots of good stuff fans and some nice juicy rumors to chew on!!

Today we wish a very happy birthday to Star Wars Expanded Universe author Timothy Zahn! While Tim doesn’t have any Star Wars books in the pipeline right now, he does have a new game he’s working on called Parallax. You can check out the details on Kickstarter and they have a Facebook page setup where fans can ask questions about the game. Be sure to check it out.
Note: the Kickstarter for Parallax isn’t live yet. Once it does go live, we’ll be sure to let you know.
