‘The Clone Wars’ Season 5 Bluray
July 26, 2013 at 10:18 am | Posted in Blu-ray, DVD, News, Star Wars, Star Wars News, Television, The Clone Wars | Leave a commentStarWars.com has officially announced The Clone Wars Season 5 Blu-ray and DVD release for this fall.
Just announced at Star Wars Celebration Europe: the Star Wars: The Clone Wars box sets you’re looking for.
Star Wars: The Clone Wars: The Complete Season Five, the final season of the hit series, will release on October 15, 2013, on Blu-ray (2-disc, $59.97 MSRP) and DVD (3-disc, $49.98 MSRP). The collection delivers all 20 episodes, two as director’s cuts never seen on TV, and supplements them with a host of behind the scenes bonus materials, cast and crew interviews, and deleted and alternate scenes, revealing the magic behind the making of the cutting-edge series.
In its Emmy-winning fifth season, the gripping Star Wars story moves closer to the grim events of Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith and several major players face their destinies as the galaxy plunges into darkness. Planets are rocked by revolution, ancient Jedi secrets are explored, and Ahsoka Tano — the spirited Padawan so central to the series — faces a major crisis that will change her forever.
For those wanting to relive every moment of the epic series from the beginning comes the Star Wars: The Clone Wars Seasons 1-5 Collector’s Edition, also releasing on October 15, 2013, on Blu-ray (14-disc, $149.99 MSRP) and DVD (19-disc, $119.98 MSRP). All previous complete season sets have been collected here for the first time. With unique packaging, the Collector’s Edition also includes a brand new 54-page Art of The Clone Wars booklet that showcases concept art from across all five seasons, with many pieces never before published.

In a category one step above rumor, composer John Williams expressed interest in returning for Star Wars Episode VII. For Star Wars fans of all ages, John Williams’ classic music has always been a cornerstone of the franchise, so it’s good to hear that if the movie makers behind the new film would like him to come on board, he’s interested in doing so. Still, there has been some talk about J.J. Abrams’ go-to composer Michael Giacchino who did the music for the Star Tours ride. Either way, we’ll have to wait and see.
The British Library will make public next year a collection of over 100 diaries and letters by Alec Guinness, the actor who portrayed Obi-Wan Kenobi in A New Hope. The documents cover his life in between the 1930s to 2000, so it’s quite possible there will be some notes on his experiences in Star Wars. (via Jedi News)
Star Wars fans in the UK can look forward to a new release of the Star Wars Blu-rays in a special steelbook case. Rebelscum has a copy of the official press release.
If you’re a long time fan of the Modal Nodes then you’ll definitely want to check out Star Wars Underworld’s extensive discography of the band through the years. I’d have to say that I’m somewhat partial to their KISS period.
For more laughs, you can check out Death Star PR which is now on Youtube with a series of videos.
Fans of Aaron Allston‘s last short story “Big Plush” can now check out the author’s story notes online for free. “Big Plus” was a part of the sci-fi anthology Five By Five which included several Star Wars authors past and present. If you haven’t read it yet, I highly recommend it.
In art news, Star Wars artist Dave Dorman has opened an online store featuring some of his gorgeous Star Wars prints, and for those with deep pockets, he also has some of his originals up for sale. If you don’t have a Dave Dorman Star Wars print hanging on a wall somewhere, now is a great time to change that.
Rounding out the news, Matthew Stover‘s Heroes Die is in the running for the 2013 Audies. Stover, well known for his Star Wars books, has also written some great fantasy stories and you’ll be hard pressed to find a better one than Heroes Die which includes a bit of sci-fi as well. We wish him the best of luck.

‘Game of Thrones’ DVD-Blu-Ray Release
March 7, 2012 at 11:03 am | Posted in Blu-ray, DVD, Entertainment | Leave a commentTags: game of thrones
Today’s the day Game of Thrones is released on DVD and Blu-ray. Retailing around $60 for DVD and $80 for Blu-ray is it worth it? Well, the plot and the acting are both good, and HBO has thrown in the obligatory extras which include (among other things) audio commentaries and character profiles. In addition, the Blu-ray has a bit more than the DVD, like dragon eggs.
There’s a caution that this isn’t for the little folk, but if you’ve read the books, that’s kind of a no-brainer.

The folks over at Play.com have an exclusive video of actor Ewan McGregor talking about A New Hope. Yes, we know that Ewan wasn’t in the movie, but his uncle was.
Enjoy watching the hot Scot reminisce about Star Wars, Dennis Lawson, and the first time he saw a movie here.

The Big Reveal
May 4, 2011 at 8:23 am | Posted in Blu-ray, Movies, Star Wars News | 1 CommentTags: movies, the complete saga
After all that the wait is finally over. Here it is, the moment you’ve all been waiting for. The big announcement is… (drum roll please)… Yeah, as expected, Fox Entertainment is announcing that they are now taking pre-orders for the entire Star Wars saga Blu-Ray collection, which will be released on September 16TH. The original trilogy and prequel trilogy will be sold separately for $59.99 each or you can purchase all six movies in one collection for $99.99. A savings of twenty bucks.
While this is not Earth shaking news, I understand from following certain people close to LucasFilms LTD. on Twitter that George Lucas himself sent these collections out already as gifts to close friends and members of the cast and crew of the movies. They all raved about how beautiful the case was and how thrilled they were with the collection.
So this Star Wars Day, treat yourself to the new Blu Ray collection and May The 4TH be with you.
