The High Republic is a big deal, but it has nothing to do with TV or movie possibilities. This is about books and comics. This whole thing began when they mentioned Project Luminous at the last Star Wars Celebration. It was quietly revealed at a publishing panel with very little detail and lots of speculation. We knew who was involved, but we didn’t know what it would be about or how it would be presented. Now the secret project has been revealed to be a publishing incentive that will explore an era they’re calling The High Republic. Project Luminous Revealed: The High Republic

StarWars.com has all the details on Project Luminous and the High Republic publishing initiative for this year. The main takeaway is that they’ve carved out a time period for the writers to play in that won’t be affected by the films. So we should get some good stories without any binders holding them back.
The books and comics are set to launch in August 2020 with the following titles:
- Star Wars: The High Republic: Into the Dark by Claudia Gray (Young Adult novel, Disney Lucasfilm Press)
- Star Wars: The High Republic: A Test of Courage by Justina Ireland (Middle Grade novel, Disney Lucasfilm Press)
- Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures by Daniel José Older (IDW Publishing comic book series)
- Star Wars: The High Republic by Cavan Scott (Marvel comic book series)
- Star Wars: The High Republic: Light of the Jedi by Charles Soule (Adult novel, Del Rey)
