Max Reebo’s Pick of the Week: “Let Them Eat Rock”

Max Reebo’s pick this week is “Let Them Eat Rock” by The Upper Crust.

I found this one via Pandora through my Krokus station. The Upper Crust does a superb job of channeling AC/DC (Bon Scott era) without lifting guitar riffs. They even capture the same lyrical charm even while being a parody band.

If you like that one, there’s plenty more. The Upper Crust has been around since 1995 with their 18th century aristocratic fop outfits complete with stage names like Lord Bendover (Nat Freedberg, guitar and vocals), Count Bassie (Chris Cote, bass), The Duc D’istortion (Dave Fredette, guitar) and Jackie Kickassis (Jim Janota, drums). The Boston band has done seven albums over the years with their last one in 2017, and they’re still doing live shows. “Let Them Eat Rock” is off their first album of the same name.
