Ewan McGregor–Obi-Wan Kenobi Series Confirmed

obiwanFinally what the fans have been waiting for, not to mention what’s been rumored (since forever) has been confirmed.  Kathleen Kennedy took the stage today at D23 Expo to announce that filming for the live action Kenobi series will start next year when McGregor will reprise his role as the younger Kenobi.  The series, with 8 scripts already written, will air on Disney+.

Although McGregor was aged up in Revenge of the Sith to bear a closer resemblance to original trilogy Alec Guinness (who was 63 in 1977), this series will be set 8 years out from ROTS, which now basically makes McGregor at 48 age appropriate.  I guess the old saying is true: all good things come to those who wait.  For both actor and fans.

Jon Snow Joins the MCU

kit harringtonActually it’s Jon Snow actor, Kit Harrington, who’s joining the MCU in an undisclosed role.  I wish there was more information to give out but that’s it: from the biggest tv series of all time to the biggest film franchise in existence.  Still with the Phase 4 information released at SDCC last month, there’s plenty of fun speculation to be had.

Well, there is one thing Kit Harrington revealed earlier in the week: one particular favorite fan theory is true.  That scene at the end of GOT?  That’s Jon Snow leaving the Night’s Watch to live with the Free Folk up north of the wall.

Ming-Na Wen Cast in The Mandalorian

August 23, 2019 at 2:43 pm | Posted in Miscellaneous | Leave a comment

ming-na wenAs if things couldn’t get better for fans, the fan favorite actress confirmed during her Disney Legends Awards acceptance speech that she’s joining the cast of much anticipated The Mandalorian.  When interviewed later Wen played it coy about revealing role details by saying that she “certainly wasn’t playing a farmer.”

The seventh and finale season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., where Wen played Agent Melinda May throughout the show’s entire run, wrapped on July 30th this summer — it will be airing in mid-2020.  Wen has been a long time fan of the GFFA and forthright about her desire to appear in a Star Wars production.  She wasn’t shy about thanking Disney for the opportunity,  “It’s astounding to me, Disney has offered me so much more.”  Most fans would agree that Ming-Na has earned this.
