Max Reebo’s Pick of the Week: “Keep On Swinging”
June 24, 2019 at 4:39 pm | Posted in Max Reebo Pick of the Week, Music, Regular Feature | Leave a commentSometimes you find a good song but you don’t take the time to check out the album, let alone the band’s full discography. Then one day you do it and you find an absolute gem like this, “Keep On Swinging” by Rival Suns.
This version of “Keep On Swinging” is a live acoustic take on the studio track from their third album Head Down. Rival Sons has a lot of good songs, with a variety of styles. The Long Beach, CA band started in 2009 and currently has six studio albums. They’re formed by Jay Buchanan (vocals), Scott Holiday (guitar), Mike Miley (drums) and Dave Beste (bass) who replaced the former bassist, Robin Everhart, who was on Head Down.

Max Reebo’s Pick of the Week: “The Message is Get Down”
June 17, 2019 at 12:01 am | Posted in Max Reebo Pick of the Week, Music, Regular Feature | Leave a commentMax Reebo’s pick this week is Valley of the Sun “The Message is Get Down.”
I found this one via Joe Tavano over at RetroZap. In their Discord chat, Joe mention finding this album by Valley of the Sun. After checking it out, I found some songs I really liked, including this one. It’s off their 2014 album Electric Talons of the Thunder Hawk.
Valley of the Sun is a Cincinnati band featuring Ryan Ferrier on guitar and vocals, Aaron Boyer on drums, and Ryan McAllister on bass. They’ve got a couple albums so if you like the song, happy hunting.
